Welcome to my first restaurant review. Have to let everyone know how excellent our dinner was at Mac's Tap & Table. If you find yourself in Leonardtown, MD, then treat yourself! Five of us covered down on the menu sampling quite a good selection of apps, dinners, drinks and milkshakes. Started with one of the coolest servers ever, with a warm and genuine welcome and encyclopedic knowledge of the menu and ingredients – Ask for Brian!!! Nothing phased him and my nephew threw him some curveballs on how he wanted his smash burger crafted. We started with some apps = the crispy fried cauliflower with lemon dill sour cream dip, their famous skillet cornbread, and bowls of Maryland crab soup in vegetable stock. All incredible to taste. Had two young guys eating cauliflower y'all! For drinks, Brian delivered a popular Summer Bramble for my sister and I opted for a new Garden Party concoction (see pics), made from vegetable water and vodka. It was a gamble, and Damn delicious! Son opted for one of their awesome milkshake offerings = the Cinnamon Crunch, that came with a full cup worth of cinnamon whip cream piled high with a giant cookie on top and big 1/2 straw to consume it. We ALL sampled and agreed it tasted like a liquid snickerdoodle. For dinner, two of us ordered the Chicken and Waffles, which were cooked to perfection. My sister ordered the Superfood Salmon Salad dinner, which is the best deal going for sheer amount of delicious healthy food. Son ordered the Buffalo Mac and Cheese skillet with chicken strips. His cousin ordered a Smashed burger with Sour Dough Bun. I can't say enough about the food. We were all starving upon arrival and still went home with left overs. The portions are huge and incredible for their price. Brian explained that all the food was sourced locally and fresh, very cool. The best part was that we had our food delivered quickly - less than 5 minutes for drinks, under 10 minutes for our appetizers and less than 30 minutes for the mains. We didn't feel like we were rushed and it was fabulous. Brian was so delightful and charming, we felt like we were in an old friend's kitchen! Husband asked for coffee before our hour drive home to Va. Our server Brian explained that they serve French press. He brought it out and asked hubby to wait 3 full minutes for it to steep. The one serving was enough for three of us. Highly recommend this place for families, groups and dates. It's just great on all fronts. Wish we lived closer - would go for the milkshakes alone! Will return soon and save room to try that key lime milkshake with key lime on top...mmmm

The food was overall good, but nothing was outstanding. I had the 12 oz N.Y. Strip, and it was perfectly cooked, I substituted the salad in place of the mashed potatoes and had the included asparagus. The salad was fresh and was a generous portion for a side salad. The asparagus were cooked tender and seasoned well. My wife had the house salad with grilled chicken and was satisfied with the portions. My son had the crab mac and cheese, which was a very generous portion of macaroni and cheese topped with a good portion of delicious crab meat. The macaroni was a bit soggy for his liking, but for the most part, he enjoyed his meal. My daughter had the grilled cheese sandwich with the French onion soup. It was actually half a grilled cheese sandwich, and she was not very impressed by it. She described it as being very plain and was kind of upset that it was half a sandwich. She said the French onion soup was delicious! The soup from my observation was not what we are accustomed to because every other place we have had it serves it with melted cheese on top and a piece of bread/baguette. Our waitress was fantastic and was very attentive to our needs!!! The restaurant was clean and had a very nice atmosphere. When we arrived, they were not very busy, but shortly after we were seated, the restaurant filled up quickly. The service remained excellent throughout our entire meal. I noticed a lot of the different entrée choices going to other tables, and everything looked good. So we will have to come back to try out some other things on the menu. Also, the Mason jar deserts looked fantastic, but none of us had room for deserts.

This restaurant has won my patronage. I had dinner here tonight with two dear friends. It was the first time each of us had eaten here. Our server, Elaina was so gracious and gave us the rundown on the place. They make over 90% of the menu items in-house using locally sourced, farm to table ingredients. I highly recommend trying their skillet cornbread - honestly the best I've ever had, anywhere. I ordered the rice veggie bowl with salmon as the added protein and it was really delicious. The produce was so fresh and the salmon was seasoned nicely and cooked to perfection. I saved some to take home so I could try a dessert and chose the New York cheesecake. Now, if you've ever had authentic New York cheesecake, you'll know that nothing compares, but this cheesecake was pretty good and they serve it with a berry jam drizzle, which added the perfect tart contrast to the sweetness of the cake. The atmosphere was charming and comfortable. They let us linger after our meal, so we could just enjoy taking our time with our discussion. One of my friends ordered a boozey milkshake and said it was absolutely fantastic. I'll be trying one of those next time. They have lots of flavors to choose from. The prices are quite reasonable, especially given the great quality of food and drink. It's a great place to bring family and friends, and it's close to all the other fabulous businesses in Leonardtown, which is a plus. Be sure to check it out.

Our visit to Mac’s Tap was extremely disappointing. The service was terrible, our server only took our orders, she came to the table 5 times drinks, apps and dinner ordered together, dropping our app on the table, and the attempt to drop the 4 incorrect burgers. She never checked on us afterward for anything, She didn’t clear our plates or offer refills, forcing us to place dirty dishes on another table to make space.

We ordered the Boom Boom Shrimp appetizer, which consisted of just six shrimp for $14. The sauce on the side didn’t taste like traditional Boom Boom Sauce at all, so decent..fried shrimp..

All our burgers were prepared incorrectly, as were two of our side dishes. We told the server our burger order twice while originally ordering to make sure she had it correct which she said she did..once the food came out with our server and an additional food runner we could immediately notice the errors and tried to clarify it with her. Instead she decided it was better to talk over a guest with “yeah okay yeah got it” when we were not even done explaining what was wrong and what should be the corrected. She then repeated the order back wrong AGAIN. These were the most basic burgers you would order it’s not like we were being complicated. Two were simple (burger, cheese, sauce os) and two others just no tom and sauce os. She also put an extra order of Mac as a side that we did not order, we did order one. Which came out half cold and chunky, our kids wouldn’t even touch it after a few bites and complaining of the taste. My husband tried it to see if kids were being kids..it was not good he didn’t even want a second bite.

We hoped to salvage the meal with dessert for our kids, but after a long wait with no updates from our server, we decided to cancel the desserts and leave.

As someone who works in the food industry, I can say this experience was a textbook example of poor service and what not to do. The ticket times are unreasonably long considering the restaurant only had a handful of tables by the time we decided to cancel our dessert. We paid our bill with the host, who agreed that the service we received was unacceptable and the host was the only positive part of our visit. 5 stars to her!

Additionally, the restaurant card processor has a 2.5% fee for credit card processing to all bills, make sure you check your tab before paying if paying cash because it is already factored into the total. The server didn’t tell us but I noticed it in the menu before ordering and checked my tab once we finally got it. The host was able to help us take care of the fee and paying our tab since servers were MIA and just chilling in the back. We were super excited that it may be a new go to for the smash burger mondays but we will not be returning after all of this. This place could have great potential but really needs some foh training some...

Millennial Burger Joint is exactly what I see when I enter the hall of Mac's Tap and Table. The decor is so tacky and nasty, they just have random plants and greenery to seem rustic, but it feels so damn uncultured. There is nothing wrong with doing something different, but Mac it's not 2012, nobody hangs light bulbs over tables anymore. I would like to complement the service; they did fine as always. Now that that's out of the way, let's explore the experience of dining at this establishment. The dining room is ugly, as established, and the menu is more the same. I had the wonder of trying their smash burgers, mac and cheese, fries, and onion rings. I'm not as well cultured in this restaurant as others in the area, mostly because it's so expensive. Why should a trash burger total me a thirty-dollar bill? They didn't even bother to take it off the cutting board, like it's totally mid. I really wrote this review to target their fries because what actually are they? They come in a mini frying thing that looks tacky as hell, and they have no color to them. They are slim and small, is it really that hard to garner some color on them or did the owner just instruct them to make the food as bland as possible? They taste weird as well, they have a very stale aftertaste. They literally taste and look like the McDonalds fries but cost 10 dollars more. The mac n cheese was served in a steaming hot miny skillet, instead of a normal plate. Whoever told Mac that it looks good is lying to him, but I wouldn't pull those punches. Fire your interior designer and get a taste transplant. The macaroni tasted awful, the cheese was like the weird white kind that tastes terrible. It was indescribably awful. The burgers were greasy, but all in all okay. The meal itself was just mid and cost me twenty-seven dollars in total. Like why I would ever go back, this place is just like other restaurants in the area: overpriced, and bland. Save yourself the trouble and eat a quarter pounder, it's pretty...
