Dante's Italian Restaurant, Private Parties and Catering — Restaurant in Leonia

Tried this place two years ago ordered just a pizza with some toppings from there since I wasn't aware it was more of an Italian sit down style restaurant. The owner was friendly, service was good, pizza was overpriced and mediocre. Just recently tried it again and ordered a plain pie well done and a chicken cutlet sandwich. Pie was undercooked, soft in the middle. My sandwich was just ok until I got to the second half and noticed a hair in my food, like a mans short hair or eyebrow hair. I was completely turned off and just threw away my sandwich. I am not one to write negative reviews, usually I will try a place and if I don't like it I won't order or dine there again. However, I felt the need to write a review when I noticed their chefs laying out on the ground next to the dumpster on their break! At first I thought they were hobos, it wasn't until I drove off that I noticed their pants were uniforms pants from dantes, filthy and full of dust from the ground near the garbage. This I found to be atrocious, especially since so many people dine here frequently and this seems to be a town hot spot with great reviews. Unfortunately, we did not have a very good experience. It was my wife's birthday, and they could not do everything more wrong. Not only the waiter and the manager were helping themselves to a drink on the job, the waiter did not put my wife's dinner order in and talked her into a replacement meal that was the quickest to make but not very good tasting; we had no choice but to send it back and my wife ended up with no dinner at all due to, by that time, timing. We did not complain and ordered desserts, and they managed not to put any silverware for specifically her dessert, which, if it was an isolated thing that evening, was not a big deal. On top of everything, they overcharged us for the items we did not even order. I used to work in the area, Always enjoyed Dantes.....When I heard Dante was back, we took a ride 45 minutes for dinner.......First we had tomatos, mozzarella and roasted peppers, super fresh and the dresing was outstanding. The we had the endives saled, also very fresh and a very light and good dressing..... My Wife Ordered Sole Livernase, huge portion, and very fresh fish....She said melted in her mouth. My daughter had chicken Marsala , also very good. I ordered the zippa de clams over linguinni off the special menu......it had shrimp in it, about 8 big clams and cumbled sausage.....it was great, the juice left after i was done was so good i ate it with a spoon......Service was very attentive, and they were rocking busy with Yuri, Dante and Elana all interacting with the customers..........If we lived closer we would go more often, but we really enjoyed the dinner......Highly...
