7/27 UPDATE - yikes!!! Ordered two fish and chips from GoBrit on coastal hwy and price charged was $2 more for each than what was advertised. Chips were warmish and reheated from yesterdays batch. Clamy, slimy, discolored and hard to swallow, felt like a lead balloon. The fish was also a re-heat/re-fry and must be hard to come by for the small portion we received. I get it, businesses are struggling, but to charge $26 dollars for a reheated warmish childs portion ensures customers never come back. Very sad about that. Had this been the first time we ate f & c, our impression of British fish and chips would be what we just tried to eat, followed by tums. We ate at a Go Brit at Rehobeth Beach yesterday and must say the service was bad. We were seated. 10 minutes later waitress takes order, 5 minutes later food arrives. We ordered 2 fish and chips. Nothing was fresh or hot. She took my wifes plate away before she was done. We had planned on ordering desert, but she delivered our check before asking. The hostess was very rude. When we were leaving she pushed between my wife and grand daughter, who was 3 seperating us at the door just so she can get salt for a customer. She did not say excuse me or sorry. We will never eat there again only the one on route 1. The one in Rehobeth...
Read moreDuring a sister get together in Ocean View, Delaware a couple times per year, we stopped at “Go Brit” in Lewes, DE for a quick lunch a few years ago. To our delight, the “Beer Battered Fish & Chips” were fantastic! For a price of $10.99, you get a good portion of fish and chips. You order at the counter and pay, and are handed your cup to fill with your choice and size of a beverage, and then you find your seat and wait for the food to be brought to your table. The food arrives rather quickly, and is steaming hot from just being cooked. Who needs a waitress to take our order when you only have 10 feet to reach the counter, and then a short distance to be seated. Every little thing that restaurants do, like hire waitresses, you wind up spending more plus adding in a tip. This restaurant works well just the way it is with a good size menu, very friendly servers and order takers, and great fish and chips. I can’t wait for a franchise to open in Maryland! I’m getting hungry now thinking of the fish and chips. One more thing, the place is spotless, including the bathrooms, and tables are constantly being cleaned as soon as the patrons walk...
Read moreOkay, not bad fish and chips. The fish was delicious and crispy. Chips, aka fries, were a little soft, but then again I got it to go and it may have steamed a little in the container or maybe that’s the way they are supposed to be. I gobbled them up anyways. I was disappointed not to get it wrapped in the newspaper like you see online, that and the cashier didn’t find humor in any of my jokes, they are just very serious there.. but they did load me up with the beer battered fish, you get huge portions and I have no complaints about that, other than you’re forced to eat it all at once, because it’s probably not as good later. I did love the decor in the restaurant. It’s semi casual, they bring you your food, but you get your soda yourself out of the fountain. You have to put alot of the malted vinegar on everything, it’s a must. With so many other seafood restaurants in the area, this place does stand out. . Recommend this...
