El Patron Mexican Restaurant & Grill — Restaurant in Lewisburg

I went in to buy a gift certificate. A gentleman engaged me in conversation about my truck and his wife complimented the staff on her salad and margarita. So...I decided to dine there. It was delicious. A plentiful meal at a beyond reasonable price. I had chicken taquitos (4 large ones) with rice and beans for $8.99. I asked for sour cream and was brought a full bowl at no extra charge. That NEVER happens in Nashville. Chips with great salsa. My margarita was neon green so I was a little fearful to take that first sip. It was delicious and packed a little punch. The wait staff provides great and friendly service. All of the local police department must eat there (afraid to walk past or drive after my margarita - lol). The owner had sold me the certificate and we had a chance to talk when I was paying my bill. She has tons of restaurant experience from Nashville and Huntsville. It shows. She said she has been there for 9 years - where have I been?? - but that it was a sports bar when she purchased it. I am grateful that she followed her intuition and provided my home county with a great choice for dining out - and without guilt - my entire bill was $13.88 or so. Took my beautiful sister here for her birthday dinner not realizing it was such a DUMP!!!! The interior was aged, menus were dirty. The queso is watery. The chips are stale and not even authentic. I'm willing to bet they came out of a bag. Very cheap and nasty!!!! We requested a pitcher a margaritas. We received a pitcher of ice with enough margaritas for two glasses and there were three of us. We requested the next pitcher have less ice. The food was bland with NO FLAVOR. I don't know who the cook is, but they need to go back to culinary school and learn to properly prepare Mexican food. I'm from FL and this was NOT AUTHENTIC in ANY WAY!! We received our bill and they charged us double for the 2nd pitcher of margaritas. We disputed this with management who advised us that was the correct charge for the proper amount of ice. I advised her never in any restaurant have I ever been served that much ice in a pitcher and to correct the bill and charge us properly. Instead of providing excellent customer service she argued with me and initially refused to change the bill. This was THE WORST MEXICAN FOOD & SERVICE I'VE EVER EXPERIENCED!!!! Saturday evening I called in to El patron to place a to-go order for 1 chicken burrito & a mango/strawberry margarita. When inquiring about what's included in the burrito I was told by a very rude unprofessional server that " this is a Mexican restaurant." Upon arrival to El patron my burrito was not prepared to go after being advised by the server 15 mins. The burrito itself was poorly made; soggy, plain & drowned in some form of salsa. The burrito looked very distasteful & unsatisfying. I returned back to El patron & explained to the server that I would like to remove the burrito & keep my margarita. The server then exclaimed to me that I couldn't keep the margarita if I wanted to return the burrito. No problem! The server gave me a refund; however she lacked excellent customer service skills. She did not treat me with respect. Instead of apologizing she slammed my money on the counter & told me bye. The money did not reach my hand. She is very unprofessional!
