This place is just a joy to experience. The creek that gives the park its name is wide and full of life. Minnows swim in the waters, attracting kingfisher birds, Great Blue herons, and geese, and there are songbirds frequently about, plus the squirrels. There are likely other fish besides the minnows in the creek, since fishing is allowed and is common.
But my husband and I just enjoy the walking/jogging/biking trail that runs beside the creek and over it via a city-maintained bridge. The trail connects with two other branches that reach to other parts of Lewisburg (which are shown on a map). On one end of the "red square" path is the Marshall County Public Library and a nice jungle gym, and on the other end is the downtown square of Lewisburg with all of its wonderful mom-and-pop shops. The trail is beautiful, and walking beside the creek is near-instant stress relief, thanks to the chatter of the small rapids and the rustling of the trees.
Near the end of summer, the park hosts the Marshall County Fair; in summer until fall, the park hosts the local farmer's market; and, in fall, it hosts the popular "Goat Festival."
I highly recommend this place! My husband and I enjoy it for nature walks, and he enjoys it for his photography.
Just a friendly reminder to take care of it for all...
Read moreFrom the ripe old age of 8 yrs old....til now,41 yrs later... This location has been more just a creek... It was a refuge as a young boy, from all the sorrows, that a kid shouldn't have to endure, and of course played a role in my ruining a pair of new shoes each year... Today,at nearly 50....it's still a refuge from all the stresses and woes one can encounter daily. It's like an eraser....a healthy, quality environment to relieve and relax. The local officials and people took this place and created a haven for us all to enjoy and become a living part of. Walking with our kids, grandbabies, and sharing a smile and hello with passers by....scenery,sanctuary for geese, ducks, and critters of all sizes call it home. It's a place among places to just be,and breathe. Enjoy Rock Creek Park... On behalf of us all, to those that cleaned and prepared the creek to be enjoyed....Thank...
Read moreRock Creek Park is Lewisburgs go-to for all events, big and small! Everything from the farmers market, goats, music, and more festivals, plant swaps, concerts, and fairs! It is a great place to look at some of Tennessees native plants/animals. You can even fish, but not off the bridge, and make sure you have your license. TWRA is down there a lot to make sure. We have enjoyed this park for many years and have utilized the pavilion for many parties and gatherings. There is a bird/turtle food machine at the entrance before the bridge. Make sure when you come to Lewisburg, you take a stroll or bike down the trail at rock creek park! There is also a kiddie park to take the kids to down at the library side...
