Ziffles has redeemed Tennessee for me. This is the BEST TASTING food i’ve had since i moved here. I’ve been to some highend places in Nashville and none came close to Ziffles. The brisket had a flavorful bark, there was that sunset tinged smoke line just under it, and the meat was as sift as butter. The potato salad was as good as “after Church potato salad”, it had the sweet sour magic balance with finely chopped eggs and pickles in it and a touch of spice. The white vinegar cole slaw took me to Germany and also boasted of that perfect sweet and dour balance. The Johnny cake was the first I have ever tasted and now i am afraid to go anywhere else for them. Thin, light and crispy edged yet moist inside, with sweet inions that lent a caramelized flavor, with enough pepper to linger. The pickles here have to be homemade and were better than even NY’s famous Kosher Delicatessen pickles! My Margarita had a generous pour and even an extra glass offered do that none would go to waste. The banana pudding was a new take with the pudding part not being only vanilla but also banana, with banana slices and the prerequisite nilla wafers submerged in the gelatinous cloud of yummy. My waitress, Jody, was a love. Friendly, and natural. I spoke to the cook, who i think is the owner as well, and she had smiling eyes. I immediately recognized a lovely soul whose love can be tasted in everything she cooks. I was in Lewisburg to pick up an antique chest if drawers i scored, and though it is an hour and a half away from where i live, i plan on driving back just so that i may eat again at this establishment. The decor is charming, with license plates as molding, and corrugated tin, and cozy booths to huddle with family and friends to share a truly...
Read moreI normally go to Lawlers but it was 5 o clock and they had 20 cars in the drive thru so I went to Ziffel's. I wasn't positive they were even open. There was one car in the lot and it looked vacant but they were open. I ordered at the drive thru, 1lb of pulled pork and 2 sides, with buns. I'm the only one in line. She takes my money then informs me that they were out of mac and cheese so I had to change one side to cole slaw. So there are at least 2 workers inside to scoop my pork, baked beans, and cole slaw into cups, hand me a bag of Wonder Bread buns, and send me on my way. 11 minutes later I finally got my bag of food. Not sure how it could take that long but ok, she wasn't rude at least. Very mediocre meal to say the least. I found a long black hair in my pork. The slaw was very bland. I'm not sure that Ziffel's has what it takes to make it in a town where restaurants always seem to open up and then die. If you're slower, more expensive, and less tasty than your competition(Lawlers who by the way has been a staple of this town for decades), then i don't see how you can continue to keep the lights on. Do...
Read moreTried to serve an undercooked burger. When attempting to bring it to their attention by phone, the person just said "ok, ty" and tried to end the call. Did not offer to make it right. Did not offer to have a manger call. Attempted to bring it to their attention on FB, had 3 people who i can only assume are employees attempt to gaslight me, but deleted their posts shortly after, followed by whoever runs their FB page telling me to google smoked burgers and i'd see I was wrong. What i saw was them skipping over multiple smoked burgers that looked much more well done than theirs. Pointing this out only made the petty person running their FB page block me. Pathetic. Didn't make one comment about the poor customer service received...
