The Italian Bakery — Restaurant in Lewiston

We love the pizzas and italian sandwiches. Of course the donuts and pastries are great tasting and look wonderful, but we are super careful with the sugary and fatty carb loaded foods so we can't have so much of them, so they are a special indulgence if we give in and have some. They have many other savory options as well like pot pie, baked beans, pasta salad and the like.

The other day for breakfast I got a wrap and it was stuffed full and piping hot. So fresh. It was amazing. Excellent breakfast choice.

Brandon certainly has a way with operating and orchestrating that busy little place. From greeting customers and answering the phone to directing staff and filling orders the guy is always running on all cylinders.

It truly is an iconic gem of the traditional downtown Lewiston of a generation ago, with the verve of fresh, young ownership. Definitely recommended.

I was working in the area, about 2 hours from home. Swung in and ordered a real Italian to go, veggies on the side. Always order sandwiches this way so it doesn't get mushy on the ride. My sandwich was made and bagged up. Picked up some bread and cookies as well. Got home and I had a Ham and American cheese sandwich in my bag instead of the italian. Four or five slices of boiled ham, the sandwich was straight trash. If it had at least a good portion of neat and cheese than so be it but this sandwich looked like it was on a diet. I call these wish sandwiches. Wish there was some meat with the bread. Cookies were ok. Bread I bought came frozen which I knew. Hopefully better than the bread and cookies. Waste of $50 bucks. I won't go back. Save your money.There is nothing really about this place other than the prices.

Edit: Bumped my review from 1 star to 3 star. Pizza kit i bought came with a good sauce and cheese...

Where do I begin? I'm orginally from a small town in michigan that's very Italian oriented. I miss home sometimes especially the real italian restaurants. This bakery reminds me of home the prices are fantastic the food is fantastic the pastries are out of this world and the people are incredibly nice. Forget dunkin, Starbucks and any other breakfast to go places. Why even bother with those? Just call the bakery place a order and pick it up. I'm confused as to how this place has been able to remain as well hidden as it is. You'll see a few cars and mild amounts of people go in and out. Bring your business here support the local businesses. I can tell you that nobody does breakfast better...
