Maine MILL — Attraction in Lewiston

Wow! Very interesting museum about the Mills that were on the Androscoggin River and all that was involved with them. Especially Fascinating information about Bates Mill and what they produced, especially the paper punch cards that gave instructions on how to weave their bedspread patterns, and show manufacturers in the area. This is a perfect place to go to if you homeschool or just want to know about the Bates Mill history. The fee is definitely affordable (I believe at 5 dollars per head, 4 for Seniors and Students) and the staff is very friendly.

I went today but ended up getting there a little too close to closing time so my son and I ended up checking out the 1st floor but what we saw was very interesting and informative. Next time we go, we'll have to check out...

Absolutely worth your time. Our tour guide was so good, very knowledgeable about the history of these mills. We learned a ton! And very cool seeing so much of the old machinery used. Made you appreciate what the area of Lewiston must have been like. And you get a glimpse into what the town has been doing to revitalize these historic buildings and the community.
