WOW! This church is HUGE. It is easily seen from Auburn into Lewiston. Once one walks to it, the size of the Church dwarfs even the tallest person. The most ornate stone work is in the front of the building, the original church was made out of Bricks and is attached to the stone church at the back. (Please see photos, it will make sense then.) The beautiful stone work portion has a 'plaque' of the date of completion. The Brick Church at the back has a late 1800 date above the door. It was really nice to walk from Auburn to Lewiston, it got my kid off the video games for a few hours. We even found a little store on the way back to buy drinks and a comic store as we were taking our time and debating if we should go the the memorial park. Good time and I hope to do it again!

Gorgeous basilica! Built in Lewiston between 1905 and 1938, Saints Peter and Paul is the second largest church in New England and the only one to be faithfully modeled on a European Gothic cathedral. Moreover, the church looms as a Franco–American cultural monument. Unlike most European basilicas, which are surrounded by grand plazas, Saints Peter and Paul sits grandly elevated but is surrounded by modest, working-class houses. Measuring 316 feet long, 110 feet wide, and featuring two 167-foot-high towers, Saints Peter and Paul seats 2,200 parishioners.

Beautiful house of worship for those Roman Catholics in this part of Maine. This is an active community of worshipers in an amazing space and the priest seemed to have a good message in his homily. The inside matches the outside of the building in terms of architectural quality and sure seems like a good place to seek out God or the higher power that you might be looking for.

Did a free tour during the hot balloon festival. It was a sight to see and were given lots of information about the historics of the building and also about the church history. Definitely a beautiful building with a lot of work and time put into it. The partitioners have truly given everything they have to make sure this building is miraculous and made the tour a very exciting thing to do. Also even gave us refreshments at the end. Whether you go to church or not definitely something worth coming and doing. Also heard they have one of the better organs in New England. I'm going to try to catch one of their concerts they do...
