Update: we stopped back in here 2 days later on our travel back to East Texas and ate again! The same amazing atmosphere and customer service.
This round we had the sliced Brisket, which is just slices of heaven to be honest. The most tender and moist Brisket with the yummy crust just cooked to perfection.
We got a half rack of ribs which again were amazing! And of course we had to get Al's amazing tacos!
Al also had us try his "dirty nachos" and let me tell you... ignore everything below because they are phenomenal. They are traditional in the since of Messy but oh my the flavors!!! We absolutely enjoyed it.
Don't forget the watermelon sweet tea.
To top it off we snagged a piece of homemade pecan pie and another piece of the heavenly homemade apple pie. Hands down the best pie we've eaten, even cold.
Still our #1 recommend if you're in the Lewisville area, or even within an hour, because it's just that good!!! .........................................................................
Original : The BEST BBQ my husband and I have ever had, hands down!
The service to start was absolutely amazing. Al made recommendations to us and did not do us wrong!
We tried the ribs, which are so tender and flavorful! The spicy BBQ is soooo good.
The Brisket tacos are phenomenal! This was recommended by AL and we were soooo impressed. These are the most filling and delicious tacos. Omg my mouth is still watering.
The fat japs with that homemade ranch is delicious!
The last thing we ordered was called a Brisket Sundae. This is an off the menu item that I happened to see in another review. It did not disappoint. Al's homemade beans are perfect with this. The Mac and cheese is so Creamy and you can tell it's made with real cheese and milk.
The cherry on top was the Texas country music playing during our dinner. And the wonderful conversation with the owners.
Also, we were gifted a slice of homemade apple pie that not only looks delicious but smells like heaven. We cannot wait to try it.
Stop by and try this place! You will not be...
Read moreStopped here for lunch while working in the area. I live in Fort Worth, which has a very competitive bbq scene. This place wouldn’t make it out there.
The Positives were the man at the counter, which I presumed to be the owner had great customer service. He was laughing, joking and shaking hands with customers. The establishment was extremely clean. Climate was comfortable. Other than those two things which are commendable, it wouldn’t be enough to bring me back and spend money to eat here.
I had the three meat plate , which included 2 sides and a roll. Although the portions were fair and price was industry standard for a good bbq joint, the food quality and taste was poor. The people I see in some reviews talking about how great the brisket is must not be used to eating top notch briskets at places like Hurtado, Heim or Terry Blacks amongst others even though this place is pretty identical in pricing .
I had ham , which you could tell was a lower quality vendor bought ham, the sliced brisket , which although seemed to have decent bark on it , was extremely bland and even though I got a fattier cut , it was not very moist and on the dry side. The smoked off the bone chicken came to me served as pulled chicken , and although it was the most seasoned thing on the plate, a better way to serve or prepare this would have been sliced breast or simply serving it on the bone. Shredded it was a bit mushy .
The sides of green beans had bacon and onion , but were extremely bland with little to no seasoning. The spicy pinto beans had good flavor , but when served to me they were barely luke warm, and by the time I actually got around to eating them they were basically cold. The roll was crusty on the outside but dry on the inside and not soft or fluffy
This place has a lot of stepping up to do in terms of seasoning and quality of menu items served. I can see this establishment receiving inflated reviews due to the previously mentioned great customer service, but the food is basically elderly white people food...
Read moreAMAZING! First of all, the people who own it do all the work. I mean they take orders, work the cash register, make the food and serve it. Plus, they're all SUPER nice. After he took our order, we had a pretty long conversation about how we found the place with the owner. Then someone else who worked there came out from behind the counter to catch up with one of their regular customers. And the lady who brought us our food (also one of the owners, I think) could not possibly have been sweeter to us. Everyone is great, but that isn't why you go there.
The food, WONDERFUL! It is the best bbq in the entire metroplex. My husband and I would know, because we've been trying to find anything comparable to the bbq-Mecca that is Austin, Texas. Up until this point, we've had little success. I don't know if I can say it's better than places like The Salt Lick or County Line (that might border on blasphemy), but is definitely comes close.
I had the brisket sandwich, which was perfect on buttery bread with tangy bbq sauce that was a little sweet and a little spicy. My husband had the ribs, and they stood up to his very high standards. I tried them and they were AMAZING.
I know the meat is the real reason you eat bbq, but let me just tell you about the other-worldly experience I had with their mac and cheese. No other mac and cheese will every compare. It was rich and creamy and perfect. If expensive, five-star restaurants served mac and cheese, this is the mac and cheese they would serve. And food critics would quit their job, because they found the perfect side dish.
I absolutely cannot wait to go back and try the peach cobbler. That will be the true test, but I'm assuming they'll pass with...
