Char's Hamburgers — Restaurant in Lexington

Have lived in Lexington my entire life and have been to Char's too many times to count and had never had a bad experience before the last few times (within the last two or three months, and then more recently in the last week) that I have been in the service has been bad enough to make me not want to come back. On more than one occasion I have approached the counter and there have been 4-6 people just hanging out, having extremely loud and personal conversations at the counter, all the while 100% ignoring you, making an effort to not look at you or make eye contact and they wait until you ask if someone can take your order to even speak to you for the first time. Multiple times I have been glanced at then waited a few more minutes while listening to them ask every employee who is supposed to be working the register. Should they not know that info when they clock into work? On this last occasion (6/21) a young man instructed a young lady to work the front and she straight up tried to refuse, telling him that she was "trying to avoid the front at all costs". That isn't really a conversation that needs to be held within earshot of a customer that has already been waiting for service while multiple employees have already looked at them and walked away. Its obvious that most of these employees are in high school, but that isn't an excuse for extreme lack of customer service. And they have the audacity to stick a tip jar next to the register as if they are doing anything to be tipped for. The drive thru workers are always great, so I guess I will stick to that. I wanted to take my son and grandson for dinner and dessert. We planned to have a car picnic in their parking lot. My son ordered the footlong special with tea and a large peanut butter milkshake. I ordered footlong special with mt dew and a large banana milkshake. My grandson ordered a corn dog, fries, a large black cherry milkshake, and a banana split. I paid right under $40.00. We were handed the bag with the 2 foot longs sitting upright in the bag on top of the corn dog and fries. The foot longs were so loosely wrapped that both foot longs were open on one end and sticking out of the bags(absolutely not sanitary). Then she put 2 of the milk shakes, 1 tea, and 1 mt dew in a holder. Then handed my son the other milkshake. Then she handed us a melted banana split with the lid not on well. It was leaking all over my middle console and my grandson had to eat it outside of the car because it was dripping so bad. My son and I took the 2 napkins out of the bag and try to clean my car from that melted mess. The 2 foot longs were on soggy buns, my son was so hungry he ate his anyway, I took the hotdog out of the bun and ate it.And of course they were cold along with the 3 fries. I don't mind spending $40.00 for dinner I do it all the time. I was so upset my son wouldn't let me go in to speak with the manager right then. Hence this review. Let me finish with this. It was the worst food I've ever eaten. On top of that the girl working the drive thru was not friendly at all. She made us feel like it was a bother for us to be there. I really don’t do this but my experience was so bad, I had to vent. Every time I drive pass, I see a line so today I decided to try it. I first went through drive thru in which I was very excited and asked “what’s the #1 favorite burger?” I stated I like cheese, lettuce, tomatoes & onions on toasted bun. Omg 😳 my burger was absolutely yuk!! I’m sorry for those of you that love this place. My sandwich was not hot, lettuce shredded (for a burger or sandwich) onions were shredded & a half of a half tomato, the bun was stale bc the lining was peeled from actual bun. The FF were cold. I went back this time went in and there was another customer complaining their burger was over cooked etc… . Another new customer that I didn’t want to sway but I believe they overheard. I explained in detail it was unacceptable but I wanted a refund but wait, sign says “No refunds” I am like why not? I don’t trust an all white staff from Lexington now that I can see what I am dealing with. What if they spit, snot, hair on my sandwich etc… . Incidentally, there were no gloves worn. I actually could go on but overall as I stated, I don’t generally take the time to do a review but there has got to be something behind the scenes to justify why this place of establishment is still open and the lines of people. They don’t ever have to be concerned about me...
