I was really excited to try Char but it was the biggest letdown from the moment we walked in. We had reservations but we waited inside for probably 10 minutes (there wasn't a line) by the front area/bar before anyone came to us, which was very awkward. During the time we were waiting, I noticed that a server grabbed a dessert with his hands and put it in a to-go box. I was SHOCKED and kept thinking maybe it was his and he'd put it under the counter or something.....nope, I watched him take it to a table and hand it to a customer. Absolutely disgusting. I wanted to leave right then but I didn't want to ruin the evening for everyone else. I was so uncomfortable and it makes me not want to eat out at restaurants if this is common practice. I tried to brush it off and have a good meal, but unfortunately the food was just as much of a letdown. Salad drenched in dressing, clam flatbread had 0 taste, and spicy meatball pomodoro had no spice. We had to ask for red chili flakes and hot sauce just to add some flavor. What a waste of...
Read moreChar is easily my favorite cafe to just sit and relax in because the atmosphere feels so clean, calm, and inviting. I absolutely love the interior and the outside is even cuter! I frequently see students sitting outside with their laptops, sipping on coffee, and enjoying the environment. So far, every latte I’ve ordered here has been fantastic. I especially enjoy the monthly specials. Last month (September) I tried the iced caramel apple latte and it was delectable! However, my go-to is definitely the sea salt caramel latte, it is amazing every single time. The pastries are also equally amazing! I loved this pumpkin poptart, so perfect for fall. Not only is the food incredible, but the service is outstanding as well! My latte and pastries were ready right as I sat down. I will definitely be coming back for more lattes and pastries, but currently I am dying to try the pizza...
Read moreHaving grown up in Milano, I was always homesick for il cibo in Lexington. My only qualm with the city. Having been here for 25 years, my wife and I are always scouring for an atmosphere and food experience comparable to that at home. Whenever mia famiglia visit, i fall behind in the rankings of favorite children, as food always comes first with Italians... but not anymore. Best pizza and pasta west of the homeland. My father had tears in his eyes after the first taste of the wagyu bolognese. The pop tarts for the kids! Incredible! The waitresses and bartender - friendliest staff in all of Kentucky. My Italian family now can experience the wonders of southern hospitality with a taste of home! Favorite spot. Would highly recommend and much love to whomever the owner and his family might be. Hoping to meet them in person one day and shake their hands!...
