City Barbeque is absolutely one of the best choices we made for our wedding reception. Kim Minton is so wonderful to work with and her staffs were one of the best Team Iâve ever seen. We got married at Buffalo Trace Distillery on June 26, 2015. We met with Tammy (the Assistant Coordinator) four months before the wedding at the Lexington City BBQ location. She was very helpful and friendly; the tasting was generous and delicious.
Kim Minton, the coordinator, is very experience and professional. Sheâs very helpful and flexible with our menu choices; she even went out of her way to locate other services like bartenders and cake cutting for us. Sheâs always responsive to phone calls, texts and emails, making it such a joy for us to plan out our reception. Kim and her husband Glenn partnered up to serve in our wedding and they met with us on site to go over the timeline beforehand (even though they probâve been in Buffalo Trace 100+ times.)
On the wedding date, they set up, served appetizer, served our reception, cut & served wedding cake, cleaned up and did everything you could possibly ask for from a catering company. We did not have to worry a bit! You might think itâs typical for any catering services, but itâs City BBQ, so we paid 1/3 of what a âtypical catering companyâ would charge for the food & service! Throughout the night, repeatedly, we heard our guests commented on how wonderful the food was!
City BBQ is delicious, economical, and they offer one of a kind great service. We canât thank them enough for being a big part of my...
Read moreThis morning I had the distinct displeasure of eating at this city BBQ. This is my 3rd time eating here. The first and second times I was missing food in my orders. This time however took the cake. I ordered pulled pork. When I received it. I left with my bag and got in my car. As I'm attempting to leave I smell a foul odor emanating from my bag of food. I proceed to open the bag and open the pulled pork and it looked like the white meat in the picture below and smelled like a dirty mop. I took it back inside and asked the worker if it was pulled pork and he stated yeah it is and walked off. I was so flabbergasted that I just left and decided to go to the city bbq on the other side of town. Once there I ordered pulled pork again and told the worker there why I was ordering because he overheard me complaining on the phone to a friend. He like any good employee of a company asked if he could see the pulled pork from the other restaurant. I showed it too him and he stated it was how pulled pork looked but it just hadn't been pulled. I then threw out the smelly meat at that restaurant and took the actual pulled pork without the mop smell and proceeded to air my car out. Moral of the story check your food with a manager if you have no other choice and HAVE to go to...
Read moreI can't believe that this is a successful chain. Nothing was exceptional or even really good. Their Brisket was some of the worst I have ever had. It was dried out , sliced way before we even arrived at the restaurant. If I had to guess , I would say this was Brisket from the previous day , reheated. The Pulled Pork was very flavorless. No smokeyness at all really. Almost flavorless and not very moist. The Sausage was good , but tasted more like a breakfast sausage then a proper smoked sausage you would find at a smoke house. The Turkey was the only thing that everyone agreed was good. But ...... this turkey could not have been made in a smoker. It's good turkey , but I would expect this style turkey during a Thanksgiving dinner , not at a BBQ place. It is moist and has good flavor , just not smokey at all. Lastly the sides , the BBQ beans had been burnt , you could taste the burnt sugar in the beans. The potato salad was very average tasting and really salty. The best side we had were the Collard Greens. They had very good flavor , lots of pork in them. But very salt. They could have put half the salt in them. Don't ever go here. It's a waste of money , time...
