Five Guys — Restaurant in Lexington

For the past 5 or 6 years, I've had this as a 5 star favorite of mine, but I can't say that any longer. This location seems to have gone down hill over the past year. I will say that the dining area was clean, as it always has been, but the quality of the food and service has diminished greatly. The attitude of the employees was unprofessional, even for teenagers. The burgers were packed in the foil, tight like snowballs, unappealing and impossible to hold with everything falling apart with soggy bread. Additionally, $70 for 4 burgers, fries, and 2 drinks is outrageous. What's further ridiculous is asking for tips on the card receipt and having a tip jar on the counter. Nothing in this place makes it better than a McDonald's. Certainly not the service. Learn the difference between full-service restaurants and ordering fast food from a counter. After you learn that, teach your employees manners and the meaning of working in the hospitality industry. Or just the meaning of hospitality alone. This is one of my favorite places to grab a burger in Lexington. They only sell burgers, hot dogs, and fries. My wife loves their fries, but I don't particularly care for them. They usually load you up when you order their fries. A small order typically would be enough for two people. It's always fun to mess with the newer cashiers by pointing to the sign and ordering something that they don't serve like chili cheese fries. Sometimes they have to stop and think to see if a new menu item had become available. The menu is simple, but service is usually really fast. There are occasions where you might experience a line to order, typically in the early evening. However, don't be fooled by the line and leave. It runs pretty fast. They even offer roasted peanuts to munch on while you wait for your food which typically isn't that long. My only complaint is that they don't offer more comfortable chairs to sit on while...

Pretty good service. Prices are a little on the high side, but we got high-quality food. Burgers were of decent size, we ordered the large $5 fries and got...a monstrously large, overflowing cup of fries with a bunch more loose in the bag. Don't order it unless you're a party of like 4. The drinks were sufficiently varied and they had red cream soda! Free refills. Burgers range from about $4-7, but they taste fresh and delicious.

The place itself was clean. The chairs were okay to sit on. The wait lasted a few minutes but isn't too much longer than, say, Burger King. You'd wait longer at Sonic than you would here.
