Celebrating my 47th with our friends group and was SO excited to try gggâs. Only one or two people had eaten here before for lunch so it was new to the majority of the group. I like to pick new places for us to try and gggâs has been on our list for a while. Read reviews, perused the website at length. Food looked amazing. Reviews were fantastic. Pictures so well done along with a fantastically created website. I was so excited about finally getting to try them. Several members of our group were going to purchase apparel, we were completely enamored with them before we ever entered the building. We made reservations in advance anticipating a full house on a Saturday night. A couple members of the group arrived a few minutes before everyone else and had drinks delivered shortly after we set down. We were one of three tables occupied in the entire restaurant. It was 15+ minutes before the rest of our group was able to order drinks and that was only after we finally went to the bar to seek assistance. It was right at 30 minutes total from when we walked in until our drinks arrived at the table. There were 6 of us. The margarita flight I had been swooning over for days was barely above room temperature upon arrival and was nothing like the reviews or pictures. I was only able to finish one as the others were not drinkable. Our server was super nice and patient. The food was great, thankfully! Additional drinks ordered were disappointing. The show that was scheduled for 9 still had not started by 10:15. The atmosphere had taken on a very groove worthy vibe prior to our exit but it only teased us as nothing ever came together. They were out of t-shirts so that didnât happen either. Overall, not a great dine-in birthday experience. Want to try more on the food menu but will keep it to pickup only...
Read moreUpdate 2: We finally did go back after about a year. The food is still very good, the staff a bit indifferent, and the wait times are still long even with just a couple of other customers. They don't take dine-in seriously here. I'd go here for takeout only in the future.
Update: They did reach out to apologize for how this was handled and for my experience, actually refunding the entire purchase. I didnât expect that at all. Iâm impressed with the follow up and follow through! We will go back, and not just because they also sent a $5 gift card.
Initial review: What a disappointment. I am still too annoyed to tell a complicated story, so here's the gist. We came in starving, ordered quickly, after over 35 minutes the waitress was very apologetic and explained she'd given our food to another table. She asked if we still wanted to eat (??), and then 30 minutes AFTER THAT we eventually got our food. I heard her tell the table that got our food that of course the food would be comped. Nothing on our ticket was reduced so I asked if they could at least give us the happy hour price for our appetizer considering we had been there an hour and a half. She did it, but honestly? A $4 discount is just not enough when your kid is forced to sit there starving for over an hour. We've been talking about going here forever, but it's unlikely that we'll be back. Based on the food alone, I'd go back. But there are so many great food options in Lexington with superior customer service that it will be hard to motivate us to go there. It's a shame.
To add: I do appreciate the blatant support of trans folks. That made me happy and really want to support them. Maybe after I get over...
Read moreWe went there on a Saturday afternoon, just a few people inside eating. My daughter was shy with trying a new restaurant but the guy behind the counter was really patient and accommodating. He let her play with the lights while we were looking over the menu.
Drinks were a buck off for happy hour which was sweet and unexpected. The food was top notch, hot and fresh. Flavors were bold and defined; you could taste every ingredient. Worth the price, but definitely more of a treat than a typical lunch.
My only suggestion would be to play censored music. They were playing old school hip hop uncensored and quite a few giggles were had by my daughter hearing the colorful selection of language. Music fit the scene and I didn't mind, but there was another family there who seemed a little bothered by it. Maybe after a certain hour the unedited tracks should be on, but I'd think a Saturday afternoon on a UK home game the music should have been a little more toned down for the families that may stop in. Volume was perfect though, we could hear ourselves without shouting, but could hear the music enough to groove.
Good experience, will definitely be back, but may have to find a sitter next time. Offers a vegetarian option with (almost/all) menu items. Food was fresh and according to their sign sourced locally. Staff was chill, friendly, definitely good people with a good thing...
