Supremely mediocre. I enjoy trying new places around Lexington and this restaurant has been on my radar for a while now. Finally decided to try lunch there today and was not particularly impressed. The atmosphere is nice, cozy and welcoming but other than that the experience was lackluster.
I ordered water and one appetizer as well as one entree, choosing some gyoza to start and soon boo doo as my entree. The gyoza had great texture but was bland, not even the sauce served with it helped much. They also serve the most disappointing miso soup, with one tiny piece of seaweed and one small chunk of tofu in it. The miso tasted boiled and lacked flavor.
The entree was so disappointing, I can't believe that it's an option on the menu. The menu suggests it's an unspecified broth with tofu and seafood in it, great, that sounds good. In reality it was a runny mess that tasted like someone spilled old Cajun seasoning into a pot of water. The tofu was so soft it disintegrated when touched, and the "seafood" was 1 shrimp and some undetermined shell fish, which was stuck/burnt to the bottom of the bowl.
The service was just probably the worst I've ever had in any restaurant. No greeting after being seated, just handed a menu and the waitress walked off. I was ignored several times asking for drink refills. They were rather busy; however I can't justify being ignored more than once when I'm sitting right next to the soda fountain. After I finished, I was handed a check without a word. After I I had paid and left my tip, the waitress asked "was everything good?" To which I replied, "not really, it was barely okay". Then she walked off again without a word.
Overall, I would not recommend coming here unless you really love watery, bland food backed up by...
Read moreThis place is great!!! We had lunch at Han Woo Ri (on Limestone in Lexington, KY) 9/13/2025 and it was delicious-and HEALTHY!! We started with gyoza as an appetizer and the meal also came with soup and a small side of a dish that was tasty (cannot remember the name). She had the Dol Sot Bi Bim Bab, which is a bowl of food, and I had the Spicy Bulgogi (marinated pork). Both were delicious and the serving sizes were generous. The seasoning of the food was great and the service was perfect. Water glasses stay full and our server, Hannah, took care of us!! The servers are able to make insightful recommendations, although I suspect nearly everything on the menu is delicious. We both had hot cinnamon tea and it had the right amount of sweet. We were too full for dessert but cannot wait to come back. The atmosphere is authentic, warm, and cozy. The noise level was perfect for a conversation. I love the fact they show pictures of each entree on the menu! We were too full to try the ice cream but will plan to on our next...
Read moreI LOVE Han Woo Ri. I can’t pass up the Bi Bim Bop bowl, (getting the hot stone bowl is pretty cool, but you can save a dollar and just get a regular bowl) but I have no doubt that any of their entrees are delicious and quality. The Bi Bim Bop is SO yummy. It’s the perfect portion, it has protein and veggies and great flavors. After you order they bring out soup and kimchi. Another item from their menu that I love is the hot cinnamon tea. I’ll drink it anytime but it’s especially awesome if you’re feeling a little under the weather. It leaves a bit of heat in your throat as you drink it and it’s delicious, too. Very comforting and just, well, awesome. The service is very friendly and pretty quick. Cleanly, simple, efficient use of a small space. Truly a unique place and experience. It’s casual but it can be intimate too. They welcome you to share if you’re celebrating an event so that they can help you to...
