Fat Man ReviewsFat Man Reviews
Food Fun Adventure Saturday took Fat Man Reviews to Minton's at 760 in Lexington, KY. Minton's is a family owned restaurant offering small batch, handcrafted cuisine. We went for brunch and both opted for the Biscuits & Gravy Breakfast. The meal is served two eggs cooked your choice, hash brown casserole and your choice of bacon or sausage. I had mine with eggs over easy and bacon. The biscuits were medium-sized and on the first bite were kinda dry, but then when mixing in the gravy they drank up the gravy to make for a much better bite. The sausage gravy was thick but not lumpy and there was a proper amount of gravy served with the biscuits. This was surprising as usually I feel like there is not enough to go around. My only knock is that I feel the gravy could have used a touch of pepper to add a spicy bite. The bacon was a pretty thick cut and was cooked to a crispy perfection. The eggs were cooked spot on and were runny just like I like them. The hash browns were shredded and made with cheese. They were probably baked, but they got finished on the flat top or in a cast iron skillet to give it a nice crunch. The seasoning was good but maybe a bit light on the cheese, but overall the taste was really nice. My fiancé had hers with scrambled eggs and liked them. Minton's offers several sweet and savory options for breakfast and lunch, including a few vegan options. I overheard a few other patrons comments. One table got up and said that she never leaves reviews, but she will be leaving a good review today. Another dude ordered the seasonal special, Cinnamon Toast Crunch pancakes, and said "These are everything that I could have hoped that they would be." Another table ordered the Elvis Pancakes, which looked and smelled amazing. Minton's is a small joint with just a few tables inside or out, so there may be a wait as they make most things to order. To my knowledge they do not serve alcohol, as they only have canned drinks with sweet and unsweet tea. The Fat Man says that Minton's at 760 is Fat Man Approved and recommended.

Very busy when we arrived. We're seated at the counter right away, otherwise a 30 minute wait. Sat at the counter for 15 minutes until we asked the nice girl who seated us, who was supposed to serve us? As there were many people running around. Ten minutes later our server came to take our order. He gave us a choice of coffee or French press. David chose the French press, i ordered ice tea not sweet. David's coffee order arrived, but he had no coffee cup to pour his french press in. We asked for a coffee cup from one of the employees stocking supplies behind the counter.. My tea was ice water with a little color of tea. When I could get our servers attention, as he was extremely busy, we asked if they could just warm the Coffee in a microwave as David had already added his cream and sugar. (His French press was cold) He said he would bring another french press set up.. So instead of bringing a French press, he brought a regular cup of very hot coffee. No worries, we are easy going. After a very long wait, our food arrived. By this time I was out of tea and didn't ask for a refill. It would have been nice to have a drink with my meal. David said his biscuit and Gravy were good. I can't say the same about my chicken and Waffle. Very small amount of syrup poured over the Waffle. No extra brought with the order. The chicken was in bite size over the Waffle which didn't have any flavor and looked really dark, like over cooked. My order was okay. I guess I just expect something really tasty for $18. Over all, our experience was okay. As an older person, I think this place is more for the much younger crowd. As there were 3 tables with college age and 30ish something that seemed to think they had to talk as loud as they could to talk over each other. Noise level was off the chart. I wish this establishment all the success in this business.

Amazing food! Real deal when it comes to mom and pop shop! EDIT 6 years later: We’ve been coming to Minton’s for over 5 years. It used to be hands-down the best brunch spot around. The “Brunch on a Bun” was a work of art: perfectly cooked eggs, fluffy buns with the ideal bread-to-filling ratio, and that unforgettable bacon jam rich, balanced, and generously applied. The food felt like it was made with care. Shiela (I believe that was her name), who we always assumed was the heart behind the place, was a joy to see on every visit. Her warm presence made it feel like a family kitchen. After her unfortunate gardening accident, something in the spirit and the quality of Minton’s seemed to shift. Over the past year, even before the move to their new location, we noticed a steady decline. The eggs started coming out overcooked, the sausage seemed to change, and the beloved bacon jam turned into more of a token smear. Still, we held on, hoping that the new space would mark a return to form. Sadly, it didn’t. Today, we paid $55 for two “Brunch on a Buns,” a coffee, and a side of bacon. That’s fine if the food still wowed us like it used to. But it doesn’t. Not even close. Maybe the original chef isn’t cooking anymore, perhaps the brothers have taken over? Whatever the case, the soul of Minton’s feels missing. It’s hard to watch something we loved slowly decline, and even harder to walk away from a place that used to be one of our favorite traditions. It’s clear the business is still thriving, and if they’ve cashed in, good for them. But it seems to have come at the cost of what made Minton’s special in the first place. We wish them success, but sadly, we won’t be back.

Ok so where to start??? So my sister and I were looking for a place to eat since we were having a day out together, i personally am vegetarian and she's does more so low carbs, just a quick insight into our diets. Well after looking around I found Minton's on Google, had many options for both of our diets and just sounded appetizing just looking at everything and how everything was described. Located off of Limestone, near a relatively busy intersection we were able to find the building just fine had no issues locating parking's a little bit awkward but that's not their fault it's just more of downtown. everyone was super nice super sweet we were greeted in and kind of just given a little bit of time to look over the menu to be completely honest with you everything looked delicious we didn't even see what it looked like and just reading enough the menu was more than enough to say we were going to be more than content. like I said my options are a little bit more so limited than my sisters but there was more than enough options for me I actually was able to get the Cauliflower Randang, my sister got the Huevos Rancheros. The Cauliflower Randang, was so delicious it had such a distinct flavor but that is not to be taken in any negative connotation there was nothing that was overpowering all of the flavors that I had were so complimentary of themselves it was very delicious. As for the Huevos Rancheros, like I said my sister is more so on a low-carb diet but whenever she was reading about the Huevos Rancheros she just could not say no, and so she gave a try, let me tell you she loved them! Along with her huevos rancheros she was also recommended to try it with an in-house hot sauce that to be quite honest she was kind of skeptical at first because sometimes hot sauces sound good in theory but can be executed a little bit not the greatest, but let me tell you when I tell you this hot sauce was so delicious it is not your typical hot sauce and it is not one that is meant to burn off your tongue and give you that kick of spice in your mouth it is so well balanced it has such a nice flavor and it's a very graduating heat but paired with the Huevos Rancheros she loved how they were paired and just how well they complimented one another, I even dabbed a bit on my rice because it was so good. I surprise, everything was actually price very well and you do get relatively large portions the staff is amazing and the chef and sous-chef definitely know what they're doing, this place is definitely a go to, if you want a nice welcoming atmosphere, and just absolutely...
