The pizza’s are so inconsistent I don’t think I can continue to choose Nicky’s. I will sometimes, once in a while get a nice round, even and properly stretched crust with the right amount of sauce and cheese, that’s done and has the crisp brown bottom and it’s tight and it fits in their box. Then others, it’s a sad pizza that doesn’t have those qualities above. Ones with the dough stretched so thin in the middle 2/3rds and so thick on the outer 1/3rd. Ones where there’s so many bubbles or sloshing of cheese/sauce. Ones that the pizza doesn’t fit in the box bc they’ve stretched the dough entirely too much, but still shove it in there and just force the box shut crumpling the pie over onto itself and the side of the box crushing it. Why would you even cook that to begin with, you know it was messed up! Ones truly overdone that the crust is unbearable to chew, and ones barely done where you can taste the mushy dough here and there and doesn’t have the good crisp on the bottom. The last time I ordered I got two cheese and you would have thought two different restaurants made them bc of the huge differences in the two. One sort of lightly cooked but round and even dough, and the other so misshapen and stretched to infinity (shoved into a regular box and damaged to then be removed bc my daughter asked for a bigger box At Least) leaving so thin in the middle and overcooked with black crust. I am not one of those who think the pizza is burnt and don’t understand crust and need to order it less cooked (like your Facebook post blast of a customer), do not mistake my clear review for that and use that as a scapegoat of the issues I’m describing. When you make and cook the pizza properly it’s great, like the first sentence describing it. When you stretch the dough wrong the crust will never cook properly. Idk what’s going on here. Is there no good management? Is management the problem? Do they have such a high turnover that random people are constantly making the pizzas poorly? Every time we order we joke about what pizza we will get today. I guess I should go back to Papa Gio’s, now renamed and under new ownership. Let’s hope the owner can actually take some constructive criticism and not shame a review being honest and try to deflect their inadequacies and blame it on the customer instead of admitting fault and working on her restaurant and quality of food and service.
Edit to add: when we order Togo, it is clear that they must sloppily make those orders to rush to get them in the oven and out, or they choose the pretty ones to serve inside and throw the messed up ones in boxes and use those for upcoming togos. Also, I just checked the recent reviews and the negative ones are accurate. Don’t let the positive ones fool you and think the negative ones are not true. They are. As is mine. They have gone downhill and...
Read moreThere is definitely some customer service issues going here that need to be addressed. Our first experience here was great and food was excellent. The second wasn’t as great, but when it’s young kids goofing off behind the counter we don’t expect too much. Our pizza was missing toppings that were listed on the menu for the Italian Stallion, we just let it go. The third time and probably our last was when we asked to sit at a booth and no one ever came to take our order- (there was only one table in the entire place to our left with 2 people..a server even walked by us) We waited 15 minutes while the servers were mixing up a shot in a shaker to then take it themselves. The young kids in the back were playing around and joking. We waited another 10 minutes before I went to the counter and no one was up there as everyone was in the back. We got up and left truly disappointed. Our oldest son just recently had a bad experience as well- his server would disappear and not bring refills or a dipping sauce they requested. The calamari was overcooked and tasted like the cooking oil was old. Lastly, one of their pizzas had a very chewy texture on crust which it normally doesn’t have when they order it and center was really gooey. He mentioned it to the server who brushed it off and didn’t ask if they wanted it remade. They finished and left. The restaurant industry is tough these days, but if you properly train employees and reiterate the importance of customer service it...
Read moreWe had a reservation for 6 on a Saturday at 5. We enjoyed the atmosphere. Our waitress was very kind. We ordered fries, garlic knots and fried Mac and cheese bites as appetizers. The garlic knots were cold which was disappointing since I've heard so many rave about them. The fries were awesome! After we placed our meal orders, our waitress explained that the kitchen was running behind and that our food would just start coming out as it was completed rather than all at once. One person received their slice (burned on bottom but understand that happens when they reheat an existing cheese slice to create a custom one- it was still good!) and had nearly finished it before anyone else started receiving food. One person in our party did not receive his meal until everyone else had finished or nearly finished theirs. The time from the first person receiving their meal to the last person receiving his was easily 20+ minutes. Our waitress was very apologetic concerning the situation and we understand that these things happen. Thankfully we weren't in a hurry! Their Lexington salad was HUGE and had lots of toppings (I actually found myself wishing there had been more lettuce to offset the richness of the toppings). The house balsamic vinegrette was delicious! We wanted to LOVE this place and maybe we'll give it another chance on another day. Rounding up from 3.5 stars and giving 4 stars because overall the food was good and the...
