Rock House Brewing and the Sweet Potato Stand

This is a quiet spot in an old semi-industrial area. Rock House has outdoor tables in the shade of the building as well as picnic tables that are shaded in the late evening by trees, and seating indoors. The weather was nice so we chose an outdoor table on the deck.

For dinner we had papdi chaat-inspired sweet potatoes from The Sweet Potato Stand, a mobile operation that will be at Rock House every Monday in June. Our dinner potatoes were stuffed with chickpeas, onions, tomatoes, cilantro, sev, and tamarind chutney, and our dessert sweet potatoes with tahini, vanilla, fresh strawberries and blackberries. Both the dinner and the dessert sweet potatoes were excellent, and we will be back for more later this month.

For drinks, we sampled the: Double Kick Drum (Double IPA) Key Lime Groupie David Stout Saison Rock Creek Wheat Dark Hearted Tart (a sour beer)

All of these beers were also good, and I ranked them in order of my personal preference ( I prefer bitter beers to sour beers). The key lime groupie was not bitter, but it was fun.

The atmosphere is laid-back and the staff is very helpful. Definitely...

I can only say you have to go and experience it first hand the beer is beyond my vocabulary, but I will try to explain. Wow just wow the groupie is great but the roadie is even greater. They hit the tongue with a nice burst of flavor and then after the swallow they just settle into a smooth relaxing creamy finish. I liken them to a pillow for your palette, one goose down and the other memory foam. On top of the good beers the building and patio area are very interesting and old scale house for a stoneyard built out of hand cut limestone gives the place a warm welcome feel. Although the bar is small the service and other seating arrangements will more than meet your needs. The arched open hearth is also very inviting built out of limestone the craftmanship is...

Stopped in to visit Rock House Friday pretty much right when they opened, and we are glad we did! We were greeted right away by Austin & Hailey (I hope I got their names correct) and made to feel right at home. Austin was super knowledgeable about their beers and wanted to know what we preferred. We did a flight followed up by a pour each, we really wish we had more time and we enjoyed the laid back vibe and conversation. The beers were all excellent from the cherry cobbler tart to the blue razz to the key lime tart and the pecan imperial. If we lived anywhere within a reasonable distance, this would be one of our go-to breweries on a weekly basis. Keep up the good work and hope to see...

Probably one of my personal fav brewers. Pros: The atmosphere is pleasant, lowkey and relaxing. The outdoor seating is quite inviting as is the interior. Not to massive but also not to small. The beer selection is always top notch. I've yet to have had a beer I did not like from this place. One thing tho is I'd recommend liking them on Facebook, simply because their posts and adds are hilarious and out there. Cons:Tho their entrance sign is not even close to visable so the chances of you missing it and the hidden entrance is super high. That's really the biggest con I have for this joint. If your in the city and looking for a solid craft brew and a chill environment then look no further!

If you love craft beer with unique flavors and great taste, friendly service, and a fun space, visit Rock House Brewery. We were traveling through during a road trip and are glad we stopped in. We're from NC where we have breweries on top of each other and this brewery definitely stands up to ours. Will be back. We tried: Key lime pie, when I whip you whip pineapple whip, and a wine dark sea. All great. We bought some cans to take with us - a bit pricey but worth it. The brewery is tucked behind a couple buildings through a small alley. Turn at the mural. They are operating out of the warehouse, not the small building.
