The Kentucky Shop — Local services in Lexington

After years of shopping loyally with this business, through multiple locations and names even, I have grown so disappointed with their customer service over the past year. I love shopping local and supporting the many small businesses in Kentucky who provide quality customer service and value my business. Today, on the Saturday before Christmas, Shop Local Kentucky/The Kentucky Shop/whatever else they may change their name to in the future, has decided that their warehouse will be kept closed and that certain items will not be available to purchase or exchange. During the season when accommodation is most important, and shopping can be most impactful, they have chosen to be rude to customers and dedicate zero effort to meeting needs. Over the past year, service has been very slow with orders being shipped or picked up, and I have submitted multiple inquiries on the website that have never received any response whatsoever. If you’re looking for a sweatshirt with the brand logo on it or the outline of Kentucky vaguely assembled by miscellaneous shapes, this is the place. If you want to feel like a valued customer or to have a positive shopping experience with the option of buying what you actually want out of a store’s inventory, I would highly recommend that you look elsewhere. Earlier this year my boyfriend bought me the Kentucky Dog Mom Tee. He accidentally ordered a large for me online, but I wear a medium. And he has a funny habit of NEVER keeping his receipts. I took the tee to the store & asked if I could swap it - I had never worn it so it was still brand new. They didn’t have any mediums in store so the lady working took my name & number and told me she needed to contact her boss to figure out a solution and she would get back to me. Not even 5 minutes after I left the store, the lady called me back letting me know they were going to ship me a medium for FREE. I asked her if she wanted me to bring the large back since I was still close and she told me to she got the go ahead to let me keep the large. So they shipped me the correct size for free.... and let me keep the large. This Kentucky shop has a huge heart for those in their community and I will stand with them and continue to purchase from them over...

This is my daughter absolute favorite store. We always visit when we're in town. We've also ordered many times online. What sets them apart - aside from their AWESOME products and quality is the truly top-notch staff. They go above and beyond and take customer service to another level. I recently read an article - ‘Seven Steps to Remarkable Customer Service’ – the article talks about how to provide customer service so good that people actually ‘remark’ … turning your customers into your fans. Part of the problem with service today is no one is exceptional anymore. Very few go above and beyond our expectations.
