Food Fun Adventure Saturday took Fat Man Reviews to The Ketch Seafood & Grill in Lexington, KY. The Ketch is a long time Lexington seafood restaurant in casual setting. I tried a Pain Killer with Meyers Dark Rum, Malibu Coconut Run, tropical juices and topped with Old Bay seasoning. Not a bad drink but heavy on the Malibu. We started with Hush puppies and Oysters Rockefeller. The hush puppies were a traditional corn meal and flour mixture, fried to a proper golden brown and served with honey butter. They were light and fresh. The oysters were baked well with spinach, bacon, Parmesan and Pernod. This added a slight licorice flavor to a nice dish. I ordered the Lobster Bisque. It had great lobster flavor it was creamy with a hint of butter. My fiancé ordered the Maryland Crab Cake with Cheese Grits and Hash brown casserole. The crab cake was fried to a golden brown and offered a lot of crab to breading in a tasty dish. The grits were light, fluffy and cheesy that made for a nice dish. The hash brown casserole had a mash potato texture but lacked seasoning and needed more cheese, while the panko topping was a bit much. I had the Flounder Maryland stuffed with Crab Imperial covered in a Mornay Sauce, I had green beans and hash brown casserole as my sides. The fish was cooked and seasoned well, the crab stuffing was light, tasty and added a nice texture, the mornay was creamy and cheesy adding a nice touch to a fish dish. The only issue was that I could tell the fish had been frozen but was tasty nonetheless. The green beans were cooked country style with onions like the hash browns they needed salt and pepper. For dessert, we tried the Peanut Butter Pie and Chocolate Dream Cake. The pie was served on an Oreo crust with crushed peanuts and M&Ms on top, it was rich but not overly sweet. The cake was a bit dry, the buttercream icing was dry also, but it had good flavor. The cake was topped with a chocolate sauce that was a bit overpowering to the cake. The Ketch reminds you of a Tikki bar at your favorite beach destination on the gulf. It offers several steamer pots, fried foods and fish favorites. The Fat Man says that The Ketch is Fat Man Approved.

The best thing about the Ketch was the oysters. From there, it went downhill fast. The waiter kept forgetting everything. I asked for crackers for the oysters, and he forgot, and he finally brought me oyster crackers instead, but it was right after I told him I wanted the saltine crackers. He took my son's glass to refill it and forgot to bring it back until I told him to. There were other things he messed up, but why beat a dead horse, which is what I think they used for the steak my son ordered. I don't think the waiter will make it. The fish and chips were ok, but the fish was very oily, the fries were very good. My wife's order was so rubbery she couldn't eat it. Overall I am sad to say my family was disappointed with The Ketch and even though I'm glad I tried it we probably won't be going back and I wouldn’t recommend it, which is a shame because I was really looking forward to eating there.

This was our first dining experience at Ketch and we were very impressed! The servings are generous, the seafood tasted fresh and everything was perfectly seasoned. My husband is an okra connoisseur and said theirs is some of the best he's had. I got the Pelican Platter that has shrimp, crab cakes, fried fish, and fried clams. I chose fried and slaw for my sides (the slaw came out first, so it isn't pictured but it was good, hearty, blend.) My husband had the fried catfish and shrimp and said it was crispy without being greasy. The price is fair for seafood this far inland. The staff were friendly and the atmosphere reminded us of some of our favorite spots in Saint Augustine.

Really attentive service our waitress was amazing. The portions are huge....I mean HUGE.... almost ridiculously so. My voodoo casserole could have easily fed 2 adults (I ordered the loaded baked potato (came out on its own plate) as my side). My dining companion had one of the bucket meals (came with two sides). He enjoyed it. If you leave hungry it's because you chose not to eat your full meal. The service in the south is really exemplary. The restaurant is one of those looks like it's been there forever. Decent value for your money. This restaurant was recommended by our hotel ~ solid recommendation. 👌

Great seafood restaurant! You can always tell by the parking lot if the place is going to be good and this place was great!! It was packed when we got there but we were quickly seated. We started off with the peel and eat shrimp(cold) and the Mrs. had the fried fish with fried okra while I enjoyed the fish and chips! The other couple with us had the Shrimp and Grits and the blackened fish tacos!! Everyone throughly enjoyed their meals! The waitress was fabulous checking back on us often to see if we needed anything!! Great place so if you haven't been check it out!!
