Although I hate to post this because I would prefer to keep this a well-kept secret, it must be done! So here goes...
This place is a GEM. First, the location is exceptional as there is no need to fight traffic and scrounge for parking downtown for a subpar experience.
Second, the ambiance is delightful, but not stuffy. There was a middle-aged woman trying hard in a fur stole seated next to a group of well tattooed, punk rock adults.
Third, the service is attentive but not overwhelming (shout out to Carrie at the bar!). She is an invaluable asset to the team, knows her stuff, and never stops moving. The bar is spotless!
And fourth, and most importantly, the star of the show. The food. I had the French onion soup, sole piccata, mash potatoes, and the Almond Joy bread pudding. I was hesitant to try the bread pudding because I have not had a decent one in over 20 years, but Carrie assured me it would change my life. Yep...I almost cried. Or maybe I did. She won't tell.
I also have a long-standing belief that any restaurant with a Far Niente wine on the menu (they carry the En Route Pinot Noir from the family), knows EXACTLY what they are doing. This theory continues to be true, as this magical little place did not disappoint in ANY way. I have already made weekly plans to return with a handful of others to introduce this amazing find to, as well as give me the opportunity to try as much of the menu as humanly possible.
Thank you, Obstinate Sons, for bringing so much class and such an exquisite and succinct menu to those with a more discerning taste. I tip...
Read moreDon't be fooled. This is not a restaurant. This is a loud, obnoxious bar with a little bit of restaurant seating. I'd say about 70% bar and 30% restaurant. We were told the wait would be 30-35 minutes but turned out to be 50. There was a couple in the front corner that stayed 20 minutes after paying their bill, which was rude of them but not the restaurant's fault. They came to get us and another couple came out of nowhere and they seated all four of us at a table that should only seat 2 but the table split in half so they scooted one half 6 inches away so it would be "separate". We were elbow to elbow between other people so that ticked me off. The "menu" is about as proportionate as the seating - about 70% alcohol and 30% food. The prices of the food are way too high too so I was not pleased at all. We got up and left before anyone took our order. I will not step foot in this bar again. They should rename it to "The Idiot Sons" since they don't know the difference between a bar and...
Read moreSo we were going to order Josie's because I had my heart set on their prime rib as I've never had it here but I've almost always enjoyed our dining experience at Josies. So I called, & to my surprise, the call would drop. I tried twice more before just driving over as we were getting dinner to go & I was also going to stop at the Liquor Barn. I saw the sign on the door about being closed due to unfortunate circumstances but to try you guys out. So, instead of calling my family (a bold but risky move), I decided to order some different dishes; 6 different dishes, to be exact: a pizza, the pork chop, Chicken Marsala, shrimp gnocchi, shrimp & lobster ravioli, and stuffed shells. My family, all 4 of us, are now miserably happy & very satisfied with tonight's dinner as we all sampled everything. It was amazing. The manager who took my order, extremely helpful and gave some good recommendations that my family loved. Thank you for saving dinner tonight. I highly...
