All things that share a name aren’t the same.
First of all, who couldn’t love the Waffle House? If you can eat breakfast any meal of the day like me, it’s a 24-hour bonanza. “You had me at Waffle!” But even though at the core this is a perfect concept, leave it to people to mess up a very good thing!
I went to the Waffle House at 2740 Richmond Rd. last night to place a to-go order. They had about a half a dozen customers and appeared to have an almost 1 to 1 match of employees working so I thought walking in this should be a relatively quick in and out. Upon entering I told the waitress with the blue hair that I would be getting this to go. Rather than asking me then if I were ready, which I was, she proceeded to do other things oppose to asking me for my order. I didn’t want to be presumptuous and tell her I’m ready as I didn’t want to come off rude as she may have had other more important duties ahead of me, which I later realized upon observation of her, she really didn’t.
After about 4 minutes of seeing me sitting at the counter without menu in hand she finally asks me for my order. I place an extremely simple order and I think that’s out of the way and I begin to get back to watching a really good movie on Sling on my phone.
After a very reasonable wait, I see an order come up that resembled mine, but was not exactly what I ordered. I thought to myself oh-oh… here we go. Somebodies not paying attention and good food is about ready to go to waste because someone doesn’t know the difference between bacon and chicken!
My waitress during this time that the order was being cooked and now ready to be packed on the counter has been actively involved in what looked to be personal conversations as the conversations appeared to be quite friendly and lengthy as my incorrect order was now growing cold ready to be packed. I watched several times as the cook and what appeared to be the cook’s assistant watch the waitress engaged in two conversations. I wondered if they were thinking as I was, with people in the restaurant you might think about cutting those conversations a little shorter and follow up on your customers. After the waitress finished her conversation, I got her attention and let her know of the problem as well as I watched a fly in the restaurant land on the food 2 times after the cook prepared it and it only flew away as they moved past the plate. She then tells me it wasn’t her fault as she isn’t cooking the food as unsympathetically as you could possibly be. At this point, three strikes for me. Slow and no attention to detail service, flies in the food area, rude and unfriendly service…. I’m out.
Too many places to go where your business can be appreciated these days.
So, I've marked this Waffle House off...
Read moreWent to get breakfast with my family, since this waffle house is closest to home we always choose this one to dine in. We had the worst experience yesterday. The server proceeded to our table with the most unfriendly face which didn't really bother me but then proceeded to aggressively put down the silverware in a throwing motion without saying a word. She then came back to ask what we wanted to drink but had no manners at all. When asking, she spoke to us like if we had done something to her and she was mad about it. In reality we had only went inside and sat down and grabbed a menu. We told her our drink order and she proceeded to aggressively, once more, go fill up our drink order. We were right by the kitchen so we could easily see her aggressive attitude and it started to make my family uncomfortable. She brought back our drinks but because of her aggressive nature when putting them down, she spilled a portion of the water/lemonades onto the table AND onto my family since they were still looking at the menu. She didn't even bother to say sorry, she went to get a rag and mumbled something to another coworker. When she came back she once again aggresively wiped the table without speaking to us. My family at this point was really uncomfortable and asked me if we should just leave, they didn't understand why she was acting this way towards us and thought maybe she could be racist since we are hispanic. When she came back to take our food order I informed her that we would be leaving instead because we didn't like her attitude, before I could say more she said "okay good for you" and stormed off. We proceeded to leave and the other worker present said "sorry" and asked if we wanted her to take care of us instead. I felt so angry and humiliated we denied the offer and went to another waffle house instead on Tates creek, which was so much better. I thanked the server at Tates Creek and explained our previous encounter and she even apologized! I highly doubt we will ever go back to this location. It was not busy at all, most of the booths were open. It was 10 am in the morning, there was no excuse for...
Read moreI called in an order for pickup. I wanted a waffle, cheese eggs and sausage. I asked if there was a meal for that, the lady on the phone said yes it includes hash browns or grits. I said I didn’t need those and so we finalized my order. Upon entering the store, the welcoming friendliness was not there. Then when I went to pay, I was presented with a $13 total. I was a little curious to see the breakdown, so I grabbed a menu while I waited and seen an all star meal that included a waffle, eggs and sausage for $9, so now I’m really confused. So I asked the lady if this was what I got and she said no, you didn’t want hash browns. I didn’t want to argue over $3, so I’m like ok, if I had known that it was cheaper this way, I could have just thrown the hasbrowns away, of say give them to someone in the store! I’ve worked in retail my for over 30 years, so I know what it looks like to go over and above to take care of customers, but just to have mentioned to me that this meal made the most sense for me because it’s cheaper!, would have been nice and almost effortless! I see why on Yelp the rating is 2.5, because if this store doesn’t really show any interest in taking care of customers by offering simple suggestions like that, then I can see this store having more one and done customers like me. Maybe the lady that answered the phone was having a bad day, or maybe she didn’t understand when I said I didn’t want hash browns, didn’t mean that if it was cheaper, that I couldn’t have taken them anyway! I pray for a better day for the young lady who took my order and for the store in showing more friendliness toward...
