Al & Andy's Restaurant — Restaurant in Leyden Township

We arrived at our hotel for an over night stay as my wife was heading out on an early morning flight from ORD. We like small family operated eating places & a Google search showed this to be only 4 minutes from our hotel. We found it using our Garmin GPS although we did turn in a little to early & came in a back way. Adequate parking lot is available with angle parking. No steps to hinder handicapped access. Two door entryway keeps cold drafts out of restaurant. We had our choice of table or booths as it was not busy with only 4 other people in the restaurant. Menus have many choices of food available at reasonable. prices. My wife chose liver with reduced amount of onions but when brought out there were lots of onions on top. Not a problem but an oversight especially when she specifically requested not to waste the onions on her order. I had pea soup with a turkey sandwich & onion rings. All food was very delicious & my milk was tasty as well with no off taste. We look forward to eating there again if we are...

The overall experience was questionable. The waitress was fantastic and very attentive and friendly. The food was good, except for the catfish, which was overcooked And dry, and the fries were cold in the middle . What made this, the most questionable and uncomfortable my partner and I were getting stared at, customers were turning to look at us and we felt very out of place and weren’t able to fully enjoy our food because we had eyes on us the entire time . At first, I was confused until I paid for my ticket and asked who the man in the far corner was, and I was informed that it was the owner. As an owner word of advice, maybe don’t stare at your customers while they eat your food if you have a question or concern, introduce yourself, and be friendly in the same way your...

I took someone from Europe for their first steak and egg dinner. We happen to go here because it just looked like a regular diner and I wanted to give my European friend that experience. I was not disappointed in the least! I really wish I would have caught my waitresses name because we came back and had her a second time! The food was excellent absolutely great! We went to IHOP and Denny's as well during this visit and we were completely disappointed... So it was an amazing breath of fresh air having such a nice clean place with good food, delicious clean food... It wasn't dripping in grease, The silverware was so clean as well as the plates and the tables and the bathrooms... I wish I lived out that way because I would actually probably frequent this...
