El Burrito Amigo — Restaurant in Leyden Township

I’ve been coming to this restaurant with my family for a while now, usually before heading next door to wash. We’ve always enjoyed the food and never had a problem—until now.

On our most recent visit, I had a really upsetting experience with the cashier, an older man who came off like a complete bully. When I ordered a “taco de asada,” he corrected me with attitude, insisting it’s called a “taco de carne asada.” I let that slide, but when I asked for a plain taco with lettuce, he replied sarcastically, “Well then it isn’t plain, is it?” and laughed. He talked down to me and really tried to make me feel stupid over something so minor, instead of simply helping me place my order.

I ordered just fine — there was no need for that kind of behavior. It left me wondering how someone like him would treat a customer with anxiety or special needs. His attitude was not only unprofessional, it was mean-spirited.

Rather than give his behavior more attention, I stepped outside to get my daughter situated in the car—she was tired and falling asleep. I left feeling disrespected and humiliated in a place I used to enjoy visiting. No one should be made to feel small or ridiculed over how they order food.

Been going here for years. Meat is good quality and for what your paying it's perfect. Prices aren't outrageous like at other locations. I usually get burritos and tacos when visiting. Their chili relleno are the best here so delicious. Green salsa is very good and spicy. I do recommend the red if u don't like spicy. The torta is also another good option. The place is known also for their menudo. But I recommend ordering over the phone ahead of time for the menudo before heading over. They do sell quickly and a lot of people order it. Place is pretty busy usually over the weekend and during the day. Parking is big and they have back parking also . People that work there are very friendly. first I would like to start by saying I consider myself an absolute extreme fan of authentic Mexican food..This is absolutely in my top three taco spots. I was lucky enough to find this gym as I work only a few blocks away.. anyone who has ever had zacatacos and loves the char grilled steak will love El Burrito Amigo. Do yourself a favor and also try the chicken and the el pastor tacos on corn... They have some of the best.. everything is fresh and extremely well seasoned. Fast service with friendly employees who appreciate their customers. On the pricier side...a burrito will set you back 10.00 now (10/21) but it's QUALITY and you get what you pay for. Try the steak burrito and ask for no tortilla...will come in a takeout container full of steak..you mix it up and have a low carb...
