The owner of the bar told me to leave because I was smoking, in the outdoor bar, where smoking is allowed…but it was making the insufficient bartender upset because my ashes (it was windy) were blowing in the ice bin, which I didn’t know. I guess it was my fault they weren’t following code and putting a lid on their ice sink, let alone using an actual ice scoop. I have been bartending for years, outside, all you have to do is close the lid….hmmmmm….She was just pissed I kept going inside for drinks because she was not paying attention. The owner didn’t come to me with a smile, and an introduction. He didn’t approach me friendly. I’m 4’11…he’s about 6’. He stormed up to me mean and aggressive and told me I had to leave the bar immediately…. He should be ashamed of himself. As an owner of any kind of establishment, you don’t intentionally try to intimidate someone for any reason. Then again narcissists don’t intimidate me. So you have absolutely lost my business. And those around me. We’re all in the business. You lose. Not us. And I will be sharing this with the 1200 people I know including the Elmwood Park, Franklin Park, Norridge, O’Hare, Melrose Park, etc. communities. All that for a bartender who can’t serve properly. 🙄 Not good Landing...
Read moreHORRENDOUS service. Please explain the point of going to a bar when you can’t get a drink?. The older blonde-haired bartender was extremely rude with absolutely zero customer service skills. This was shocking to witness in a service-industry employee. It may be time for retirement for this washed-up bartender. We waited over half an hour to be acknowledged and even then, after waving our arms in the air to flag her down, we were greeted with a snide remark and then she turned her back and walked away. There is NO EXCUSE for this behavior. After mentioning the inappropriate behavior and disrespect to a man other patrons identified as the owner, he too walked away. I was SHOCKED. My money spends quite well and I’ll gladly spend it in one of the numerous establishments in the area that appreciates my patronage. I work too hard for my money to be treated in...
Read moreI decided to visit the landing strip during a recent business trip to Chicago. I was staying in the Rosemont area and really had no interest in the hotel bars. I wanted to meet regualar Chicagoans and I believe I hit the jackpot. Although it was a Wednesday night the bar did have a good crowd of folks. Everyone was friendly and made me feel welcome. I had a chance to meet the bar owner and can I just say you can tell he has a passion for his business. The bar is spotlessly clean and has bathrooms that you would see in a high end restaurant. Whether you're a local looking for a new watering hole or a visitor wanting some local flavor you can't go wrong visiting The Landing Strip Bar...
