The Rose gets a 3 star review from this business traveler for several reasons… Avoid the 4th Floor at all costs
The Good Rooms are Clean Beds are comfortable but only if you like soft mattresses restaurant and bar staff are friendly when they can be location is great with a lot of restaurants in the area Housekeeping will make up your room daily
The Bad the food at the hotel restaurant called Thorn is borderline awful. Do yourself a favor and order DoorDash or go to Carmines across the street -stingy on bottled water, which feels like a slap in the face when you spend 270 nights plus a year in Hilton hotels… it’s $0.12 worth of water Hilton… do better -Expensive food and drink at Thorne upcharge on neat pours which is standard since you’re getting 2oz but if you order a double (3oz) pour neat you still get 3oz and charged for the extra “neat pour” no stationary or pens in the guest rooms… even the Hampton Inn has pens and paper in the room… single ply toilet paper… does Hilton even care about their guests comfort anymore??? Good thing I expect this and travel with flushable wipes. housekeeping will come daily if you don’t put your do not disturb sign up. I took mine down Wednesday night because I needed towels. At any other Hilton I stay at, housekeeping will make up the bed and put new towel in the cabinet… not here… they made my bed, replaced my towels, gathered up my dirty laundry and piled it up somewhere else(not where I had it), moved all of my toiletries on the bathroom counter and even put my tooth brush in its case…( which I had leaning on the bathroom tray to dry)… needless to say I door dashed a new tooth brush…
The Biggest Negative… whomever designed this place for Hilton should be fired and never used again… who in their right mind would think it’s ok to put the hotel gym that is open 24/7 on the top floor of the hotel… directly above the 4th floor guest rooms?! A group of, as the hotel concierge described” kids came in on my last night and asked about the gym. He told me he had the feeling it would be a problem… Sure enough, 6pm it starts… the “kids” are slamming things around right above room 425… my room. Making a ton of noise… no big deal it’s early and honestly I thought there was a room above me with a couple enjoying themselves… all good here, I’ve made my fair share of banging noises with my wife. After a disappointing dinner again at Thorne again, (flavorless, over cooked food, and only two bartenders covering the whole restaurant) I went back up to my room at 8pm. By 8:15 the banging upstairs started again and didn’t stop… this time it sounds like a WWE Wrestlemania event was happening above me…(if so, where was the ticket offer for guests…) I call down to the front desk to ask them to check in on the room above me and ask them to keep it down since I have an early morning flight… at that time I’m told by the front desk… “Oh no, I’m sorry, the hotel gym is above you….” Oh ok that makes sense. I can deal with that since it won’t last much longer… “No sir, the gym is open 24/7… let me move you to a room that’s far away from there… “ I’d rather not but ok… I’m on the last night of my week and going home tomorrow but let me pack in order to unpack for one night….” Concierge sends someone up with new keys, he tells me there’s a lot of people in the Gym right now…(as you hear the crashing on the ceiling above me). I pack my stuff and move from room 425 (King Deluxe Room) to room 409 ( basic King Room)… I was downgraded because children were using the gym and it was 24/7…. Seriously why… why was the Gym put on the top floor? Put the office center on the top floor and the gym on the first floor… “smart” people designed and built this place and thought this was the way to go… I went down to the front desk to inquire… the concierge was apologetic and seemed sincere said the only other rooms they had that matched mine were all in the same area and asked what else he could do… I’m out of space but you get...
Read moreI’ll start by giving the positive things about the hotel. Check in was easy, room was clean. The aesthetic of the hotel was very nice. Definitely gives classy meets edgy. I attended an event and stayed here over the weekend. The event space was very nice. Also is within walking distance of Dave and busters.
Negatives- the running rate for my room was 112 a night which I had no problem paying. However, the rooms do NOT have refrigerators or microwaves in them. All the healthy food I packed to bring on my trip I had to waste and throw out because there aren’t any refrigerators in the rooms.. I feel that is a very basic hotel necessity. Especially considering the price. They also do NOT have a pool - extreme disappointment. They require they’re guest to pay for parking, which again was a huge disappointment. The parking is off to the side/ back of the building with no alternate entrances, so you have to park all the way on the side almost behind the building then walk all the way back to the front.
Apparently housekeeping is not an everyday thing here. I had my do not disturb sign on the first night but I removed it in the morning and requested the room to be cleaned. The house keeper proceeded to tell me I was not on her list therefore she would not clean it. I went to the front desk and they assured me I would have my room cleaned. I went to the event I was there for then came back to my room NOT cleaned. I was furious as I had planned to host guest. The front desk did compensate my rate by 50% for that night. But the inconvenience still stands. A lot of the staff is Spanish speaking so I’m not sure if there’s a communication barrier or a simple lack of care.
The food was expensive and subpar. I asked the bar tender for NAKED wings with ranch on the side. He took my order as if it was no problem and then brought me out BREADED wings, when I tried to send them back he challenged it by saying the breaded wings are they’re naked wings. A total waste of money.
Honestly, I would only host events in their event space. I would never stay here again. There are so many hotels in the rosemont district, and this one just isn’t worth the rate. The building is nice but that’s about it. My total for 3 nights was almost 500.00. I’ll literally never stay here again, extremely...
Read moreDO NOT USE THEM FOR AIRPORT PARKING!!
I had a terrible experience both departing and arriving.
On departure I showed up at 8:38 am for my 9:45 flight. Was told, should be about ten minutes. Great! .... at 9:05 the shuttle finally showed up. Chatting and taking his sweet time the shuttle bus driver made sure to socialize with his coworkers before taking us to the airport. Finally gets in to drive and asks what airline for everyone. A few on American, a few on spirit and 2 gentlemen on international. We let him know that we are in a hurry and we might miss our flight. As were driving I notice that he’s heading towards the international terminal at which point I ask excuse me are you going to the international terminal first? Can you bring me to the American terminal I’m in a hurry? He responds to me and says no this one is a lot closer and easier for me, I go to this terminal first. I must say in my 35 years of traveling at O’Hare airport I have never witnessed a shuttle bus driving to the international terminal before going to domestic.
So after the long routes around the airport we finally get dropped off at 9:35 at the terminal, one full hour after I parked my car. Security was empty and I was able to get through in about two minutes, but that was all too late due to the lack of professionalism and urgency on the part of the shuttle bus driver.
Needless to say I missed my flight and had to pay $160 to rebook for a different time.
So now I’m back four days later and thoroughly read through the directions on how to be picked up (spothero). Which states very clearly walk to door three and the shuttle bus will pick you up. At 4 PM I walked out at door three, at 4:35 PM I noticed they were still not here yet so I called. When you call the directions state that the shuttle is on call only and you need to call to be picked up. And here I sit at 4:50 and I still have not been picked up yet.
This is a complete embarrassment and they should no longer offer this service if they do not know how to handle it correctly.
I expect a response from this review from management and at the very least require a refund for my parking and my flight change.
This is a very bad look for a new hotel. Please get your act...
