From the moment we walked in we were greeted with smiling faces. When I did a search for Italian restaurants and found this one, I thought “yea right, an Italian restaurant that’s decent in Kansas, no way!” Especially since I am from NY and am Italian with high standards for Italian food!
Well to my surprise the food here was very good. The pic doesn’t really do it justice because we ate a bit before we realized that we hadn’t taken a photo yet.
I had the Veal Marsala and my wife had the Chicken Marsala. Both were wonderful and the sauce was divine. The chicken was just a bit dry though. Not enough to lower the Food Star Rating by whatsoever. The Marsala sauce was so good that I spent another 5-10 mins dipping the bread in it after I had finished the pasta and veal.
I always ask for a side of meatballs at every Italian restaurant I go to. It’s just habit and a barometer of the food prep for me. These were homemade and fresh, not frozen. They reminded me of my grandma’s meatballs.
For desert we both had cheesecake which came out a little bit frozen but that was ok. Presentation was wonderful with swirling drizzles of caramel sauce around the edge of the plate.
The lemon drop martini was perfect but the Tanqueray olive martini tasted like it had no olive juice in it at all. It was like drinking straight gin. Not that I minded but for me it’s a little difficult to stomach straight gin. In hindsight I would order the Lemon Drop martini instead.
Prices are very reasonable and our entire meal with drinks and deserts came to $65 which is phenomenal. I would have happily paid more for the food and service. Our waitress was pleasant and very attentive.
Oh and the bread is an interesting shape and seems to have an egg wash of sorts. It was also wonderful and was served with an olive oil and herb dipping sauce.
Overall a wonderful dining experience start to finish. Highly...
Read moreI took my wife to dinner there yesterday evening and we were so disappointed. We were there 20 minutes or so at the table before being brought cold dinner rolls and no water. Then we waited another 10 minutes before being told that they didn't know how to make Long Island Iced Teas and so we ordered a drink off the menu. I ordered the Bloody Mary and when I tasted it, it was disgusting. It tasted like Tabasco and Ketchup... I at that point gave up on trying to get an Adult beverage and just drank water. The waitress said she wouldn't bill us for the Bloody Mary and apologized and said they didn't have a Bartender working. When we received our meals the pasta was overcooked and the red sauce tasted like it was dumped out of a can and no seasonings. I didn't finish my plate and just sent it away. When we went to leave the waitress was also working as a cashier and noticed that the Bloody Mary drink I didn't consume was on the ticket and went and spoke with the owner Vinny to have it removed. She came back in tears and shaking and said the owner yelled at her and said that since I ordered the drink I was going to pay for it. At this point I didn't care about paying for the drink. Whatever right.. I just wanted to get out of there. However, I was very concerned about how the owner Vinny was treating the young lady waitress and asked to speak with him. He refused to come out of hiding and face the customer. At this point we just left. We will definitely not go back to this establishment again! BTW.... The cloth table clothes are disgusting. Instead of cleaning them daily the owner is flipping them over on the tables. If he's taking shortcuts on cleanliness I suspect he's also doing the same on his food...
Read moreDecided to come into town and try this place out. Upon being seated, I ordered a drink, app and dinner. Didn’t get the drink until 30 minutes of being seated and had to wave a waitress down just to receive service. I was then served the wrong appetizer but understood it was a little busy so I did not correct it, then was served dinner and was treated to a carbonara with sliced ham and very rich tomato sauce. Not sure if this was the restaurant’s recipe but I was disappointed in how much sauce was used, the taste of it and the use of deli sliced ham instead of cubed pork. The food tasted very processed and store bought and seemed like a quick mockup of something to serve because the waitress forgot my order. Despite the poor communication of how long the order would possibly take, the staff were also rowdy in the kitchen, sometimes startling other guests, which could be the reason why I was forgotten about. Very disappointed in service and food. Ambience is okay. As a visitor who wants to come back,...
