Handel's Homemade Ice Cream Liberty — Restaurant in Liberty Township

Conveniently located on Belmont Avenue in Liberty right near the highway. I've been going to Handels Ice Cream ever since I was a teenager and I'm as old as dirt now so that's alot of ice cream cones lol. Handels is pure Youngstown and I'm pretty confident to say that every Youngstowner has eaten their ice cream more then once, it's that amazing, it's so good that its said that the now infamous Bill Cosby had Handels ice cream shipped to him on a regular basis on dry ice, now that alone speaks volumes on how great the ice cream is. They have a flavor menu that overwhelms, theres that many flavors to choose from, as for me my favorite is a double scoop, one scoop of coconut cream pie and the other scoop cake batter, I just had one yesterday and I'm giving serious consideration to going to get...

It's nit picky I know, but I'm from South Carolina.. We call Pecans... (Pee Cans .) . Where the North calls them Pecans.. (PA CONS) there is a young lady who feels she needs to correct me everytime when she repeats my speciality Brownies order to me, It shouldn't bother me, but she corrects me like I'm uneducated, I always want to tell her in my sweet Southern way that my draw and speech might be slow, but my mind isn't, I'm very educated we just talk differently as people, it's almost like she thinks I'm offending her in some way, I'm ordering my Brownie Sundae with Ice Cream and whipped cream and Pecans instead of Peanuts is all because I really like Handel's Ice Cream and it's close to me since I live here...

I have had Handel's Ice Cream for years and have always had great ice cream and flavors. However out of the last 4 quarts of ice cream I purchased only one had enough of the advertised ingredients to be called by their advertised name. I had the Buckeye, which was always great. Last quart had only 5 buckeyes in it and very little swirl. Spouse like a House had only a few chocolate covered peanuts and not much else. The Pralines and Cream had very little swirl and only a few pecan pieces. This is not the quality of ice cream I am used to getting at Handel's. I think I will be going elsewhere for my ice cream.
