One of the most beautiful restaurants I have ever dined in. The bar area is decorated with street lamps, brick flooring and wrought iron tables, giving you the impression that you've just encountered a quaint little Italian street cafe.
The service is friendly and efficient. It's more like they are your hosts at an intimate dinner party. They don't rush you, are happy to answer questions, and sometimes will even sit down with you for a minute. But they don't pester you constantly...they give you space to enjoy your food and company.
Now let's talk about the food. First of all, the simple salad before your meal is anything but boring. Especially if you get it dressed with their hand made creamy italian. The chilled lettuce and mozzarella topping make it the perfect starter. Want to make it even better? Order the cheesy bread appetizer. If you're a light eater, you've had a fantastic meal already.
For those like me who are not light eaters, it's onto the entree. The creamy sauces are rich and satisfying while the marinara is robust and savory. The blush sauce is the best of both worlds. All you have to do is choose what kind of pasta you prefer. Just like the restaurant, the food isn't pretentious...just warm and comforting...and sometimes producing audible sounds of pleasure. ;) Portions are perfect ...enough to satisfy while still leaving a tiny bit of room for dessert.
And you WILL want dessert. Once again, the Spinning Fork excels in offering delectable dishes that perfectly compliment everything else they serve. One dessert is usually perfect for two to share after a full meal.
We live in Indianapolis, but ever since we discovered the Spinning Fork just over a year ago, every trip to the Cincinnati area includes dinner plans there. Can't wait...
Read moreWe went to The Spinning Forchetta to celebrate a birthday. Good choice. We made reservations for 5:30 pm, arrived a little early -- which was good -- and right after we were seated a line was forming at the door, and the dining room was completely full 10 minutes later. So, I would advise reservations!
The atmosphere was understated old world Italian, with just a few well-placed pictures and pieces of decor, and not that "in-your-face" gaudy, trite decoration you see all too often. Seating was mixed, with various sized tables and booths, and the dining room was a very comfortable space.
We ordered fried calamari and cheese sticks for appetizers. Both were crispy, well-seasoned, and not greasy. Both came out sizzling hot.
I ordered veal parmigiana, which came with a side of angel hair pasta with homemade marinara sauce, which was delicious. Very authentic tasting, and I could tell it was homemade. I also had a side salad with creamy Italian dressing. The salad was well-chilled and very tasty.
Other choices at our table were sea food alfredo, the house trio dinner, and pizza. All were equally delicious.
One of the outstanding desserts was the limoncello cake. It was very light and not sour. We also ordered cannoli, which I normally do not like because of the dry-tasting filling. I must say, this cannoli was very good, with crispy shells and a good-tasting cream filling.
We also enjoyed the music they played: Italian standards and 1940s music, instrumental and sung by the likes of Perry Como, Frank Sinatra, etc. Very nice.
The staff was very friendly and efficient, and helped to make for a most enjoyable evening. This will definitely be my go-to when I need good, authentic Italian food, which is...

Our waitress Layla told us about the adjacent Elks' Lodge banquet hall which is part of the same building as the restaurant and that the room had some dates available the challenge in finding a wedding and reception venue became a no-brainer.
We booked the hall for New Year's Eve and the hall looked beautiful (see pictures included). We had around 60 guests and had the ceremony and reception including dinner, right there which made it super convenient for everyone.
Layla worked with Nancy and I to make our wedding both special, and seamless. Everything from the wedding, reception and dinner went off with zero issues. I highly recommend this venue for both casual dining and special events, like our wedding!
