My first visit to Yummy's Donut Palace left me with some mixed feelings. I stopped by around 9:00 a.m. on a weekday, hoping to find a wide array of fresh donuts. The good news is that the guy working the counter was incredibly nice and pleasant, offering great customer service. However, the selection of donuts was unfortunately very lacking. For being fairly early in the morning on a weekday, I was surprised and a bit disappointed by how few options were available. It felt like they were almost out of a variety of different donuts, which made it hard to pick out exactly what I was in the mood for. The donuts I did end up getting were tasty enough – they satisfied my craving for something sweet. But in my mind, they weren't groundbreaking or particularly memorable. They didn't stand out as being any better than other donuts I've had from various shops around the Kansas City area. The people running this place were super friendly, helpful and engaging. I grabbed an old fashioned, chocolate old fashioned, and got donut filled with a vanilla cream that felt weirdly marshmallow like. The donuts look delicious but there was a weird tang to the flavor I could not put my finger on, and I couldn't quite get past it. A bit like some people can't get past the Hershey Bar sour flavor. Either way they were wonderfully fresh feeling, moist, fluffy and well baked and you might love them, they are just not quite for me. The quality felt high and they present really well.

I also had a sausage roll which was microwaved, and the pastry just turned rubbery, so if a rubbery pig in a blanket is your thing you are absolutely in luck. It was a solid 1/5

THAT SAID ... I suspect the food is secondary to the huge drink's menu, those look genuinely interesting and delicious, and I'll certainly be back to try them. If Boba is your thing I suspect this is the best...
