This is hands down one of the best Italian restaurants in the metro area especially NE ATL Gwinnett county. But, I would even dare to say could rival a couple of the good ones in town.
Not sure where to start as they hit all the different aspects of a great meal out. Incredible food, fantastic service, nice ambiance, generous portions, and bill that makes its where it doesn’t have to be a special occasion place.
Let’s start with Jerry and the service we received. The service provided by this man would rival any white table cloth restaurant in the city. He told us all about chef specials, the history of the restaurant, he made brilliant recommendations, suggested a wine to go with our food (fantastic pairing), told us his favorites. He marked the table between courses, fresh silverware between courses. The table completely bussed between courses, appetizer plates, share plates, and bread plates. His wine service was perfect, he topped off our wine glasses, kept our waters full, and did everything you could imagine. He anticipated needs and I don’t think we ever asked for anything. As we slowed down and he noticed us not eating, he told us to wait a moment and he box up our food. My wife and I couldn’t remember the last time someone boxed our food for us. We have become so use to servers just throwing to-go boxes down on a table and you might or might not get a bag. Ours was boxed and bagged and placed back on our table. We were so impressed as we had forgotten what truly great service was like. As we were wrapping up he did his dessert spiel and painted beautifully word pictures but we were full and passed on dessert. A few minutes later as we are expecting the bill, he comes out of the kitchen with a home made tiramisu and gelato for the kids. Wow what a way to end the meal. We are blown away and this has just become our go to Italian restaurant.
As for the food to say it was well made and made with love would be an understatement. High quality ingredients are used, along with great recipes, and fantastic techniques. To give us some of the best Italian food we have had in a while. House made gnocchi and raviolis. A bolognese sauce you could bath in. A tomato cream sauce that would make you want to slap your mamma. The portions were generous, the food beautiful that just had your mouth watering for your next bite. We can’t wait to come back and work our way through the menu. We know it’s all going to be good.
The ambience is great. It’s cozy and warm and make you feel comfortable. Yet not stuff or pretentious. It is a very inviting space a place where you can settle in and have a great meal.
If you haven’t been and your tired of the Olive Garden and all the other sub par Italian restaurants in our area then go treat yourself to an amazing meal and a night of great service and...
Read moreI was excited to try this place after hearing so much buzz about it… and it did not disappoint! Our server, Emanuel, was TOP NOTCH! He was friendly, genuine, and helpful- one of the best servers I’ve had. The atmosphere was crisp and decorated with simple elegance. What an amazing transformation from the way it looked when Los Hermanos was in the space! We were greeted upon entering and immediately felt authentically welcomed by smiles and friendly staff.
We ordered Italian drinks from the cocktail menu, and the Aperol spritz was refreshingly delicious and paired well with the fresh Italian bread.
We got started with the calamari appetizer, which was enormous and well worth the $12- considering we’ve paid that at other places and gotten less than half of this serving. It was a mountain of calamari mixed with some zucchini and carrots- great for dipping in the homemade marinara. Three of us were more than satisfied with the quantity and quality!
For dinner, I ordered the Soufflé Di Melanzane (Eggplant Parmesan). This was also on the appetizer menu, but was plenty for me! It was among the most tender, sweet eggplant I’ve ever had. It was perfectly cooked and artfully blended with cheese and marinara. At $12, this was a great pasta-free option for a diabetic like me who tries to eat low carb. (Although I am going to have to “cheat” and try their ravioli on my next visit!)
My husband and daughter both tried options from the “specials” menu. My husband loved his shrimp scampi with risotto and repeatedly noted how he “loved the way they cut up the shrimp so you get a little with every bite!” I took a tiny taste and, if my eggplant hadn’t been so good, I would have had plate envy! The risotto was tender & the shrimp was a savory blend with the garlic and butter-based sauce.
While I didn’t taste my daughter’s meal, she also got a special- which was our waiter’s recommendation. It was a mushroom and pork dinner with fresh vegetables. She raved about the flavor.
For dessert we all shared the Tiramisu, which was the consummate ending to a delightful meal! It was homemade & light and the expresso was perfectly balanced with the mascarpone and chocolate. In addition, the $8 serving was more than enough to cleanse the palates of all three of us!
Our visit more than lived up to the hype. Even when we were leaving we felt that the staff appreciated us and wanted us to enjoy the experience. Between impeccable service and mouthwatering food, this place will be added to our favorite dinner...
Read moreFinally had a chance to stop by and give this place a try and I am so happy that we did! From the moment we stepped in we were greatted warmly and sat down. After careful review of the menu we decided on our dishes as follows: Calamari fritti Pollo all Mattone (1/4 white chicken) Risotto fungi Pollo alla parmigiana Limoncello cake Tiramisu
The calamari was fried perfectly and also had zucchini and carrots fried throughout. Unexpected but equally delicious. The sauce was thick and flavorful and the grilled lemon added the perfect tang.
Pollo all mattone was kissed by the grill which provided a great skin and still allowed the chicken to be juicy and succulent. The vegetables were steamed just long enough to make the carrots sweet and the broccoli to have a slight snap, which I loved. The roasted potatoes had the perfect amount of seasoning and were very crisp.
Risotto fungi was creamy and indulgent. I opted not to have parm on top. Each bite was plentiful with mushrooms and melted in my mouth. Phenomenal!
Pollo alla parmigiana was stunning. The chicken filet was tremendous, it was pounded thin, fried crisp and still juicy on the inside. It was topped with a delectable thick marinara and covered by a generous amount of heavenly mozzarella. The cheese pull was wonderful. The side veggies were equally delicious.
The Limoncello cake was fluffy and delightful. It was just sweet enough to calm a sweet tooth and not too tangy. Light and airy are the descriptors that come to mind. My favorite for sure
The Tiramisu was to die for. I mean, as soon as it hits your palette you instantly taste the coffee, but it was bitter or overpowering, and the sweetness was nothing less than perfect.
Overall, for the price, the service and the amount of food we got, we were more than satisfied and impressed. We will undoubtedly be back here with more family. Can't wait to try other menu items. So lucky to have a good Italian restaurant nearby!
10/10 will...
