I do not want to be mean with this review, but I am just trying to be honest with my experience to try and help other diners when it comes to spending their hard earned money.
This is some of the lowest quality Chinese food I have ever had. I ordered two different dishes, both had fried rice. Without exaggeration this was one of the worst fried rice's, or rice in general, I've ever eaten. Rice should be fluffy and soft and have some stickiness to it. This rice had zero moisture in it, was granular and hard. I could not finish all of it. I've eaten Chinese food my entire life all over the country and this might be some of the worst rice I've ever eaten.
The dishes included cuts of beef which only tasted of salt. There was no complexity to the flavor. Vegetables also just tasted of salt and were not ripe. The beef in the dish was tender, but did not have any other pleasing characteristic to it.
The price of the food was cheap, and I can see why. They are definitely using some very low quality ingredients. I get the vibe that this is a family run business, and I hate to give a negative review, but I have to be honest with my experience.
My experience was so poor that I will not eat here again. I am not a particularly picky eater but the quality of this food is just not on par with what I would consider...
Read moreFirst time ordering from China Inn tonight. I was in the area for some business and wanted some Chinese food for dinner. After googling and checking reviews of local establishments, I decided to come here to China Inn. I ordered online at 3:15pm for a 5:15pm pick up. I was about 10 minutes early and the young lady behind the counter assured me my order would be ready shortly. I told her I knew I was early so no rush. My food was ready at 5:15pm on the dot. I had a 15 minute travel time to get where I was going and another 15 minutes before I could sit down to eat. After sitting 30 ish minutes total, my meal was still hot, fresh and just as I had ordered it. I had the General Tso combination platter which comes with pork fried rice and an egg roll. I also tried a pint of their house lo-mein. Everything was delicious. The portions were big and I'll be having another full meal with the leftovers. This was a very good first experience and I will be returning again. The staff were friendly and the lobby of the restaurant was very clean. If I had to criticize any part of my experience, it would be the General Tso chicken could be spicier but that's just my personal taste. The meal was delicious either way so if you're in the area and have a hankerin for Chinese food, give these...
Read moreI left a 5-star review 5+ years ago, but I need to revise it. Downward. This place used to rock. My old favorite was Little Peking in Trappe. But the old owners sold it and it hasn't been the same since. It's all about the cook when it comes to Chinese food...
And there's the thing. A couple years ago China Inn changed. Substantially. I'm around 100% positive (without having an actual clue) - it's not the same cook anymore, and I'm not even sure it's still the same crazy but dear Chinese lady running it anymore.
My two go-to get-em-every-time things are pork fried rice and pork w garlic sauce. They really changed on the fried rice. It's not very good anymore compared to all the years I'd been going there before... Seems like they add vegetable oil now, or too much or something. It changes the dish for the worse. Fist time it was so bad I couldn't eat it. I threw it out. At least they were good about giving me a refund for it...
And both of these things have less pork in them than they did previously. The pork with garlic is still ok, though different, but I feel kinda gypped at the amount of pork in it now. So, I'm looking for a new Chinese place to call home....
