Very sad by my visit tonight! Me and my daughter are frequently at the location in Douglassville and my daughter looks at her books and I look at mine. We both love books and again go very often. Tonight we knew we were not going to have that long after work and school before they close so we went to the Royersford location because it was closer for us with the time we had. When we walked in a kid bounced a ball towards my daughter and my daughter handed it back to the other kid and my daughter went to look at the kids books. When I walked over she had a few out(she thought she was getting them all) she helped me put them away and we kept looking together. Apparently this staff could not hear an elderly man at the counter so she yelled at him the whole store could hear her. It was rude as anything. Then my daughter found a book in the new section she wanted so I told her she had to put back the other book and could get that so she went over to do it. The lady very rudely goes “no here here I’d rather I do that” and that itself would have been fine but she practically jumped at my 4 year old and scared her. So I told my daughter to come back to me(I was 3 feet away) and the lady goes”yes go back to your adult”. Then my daughter picked up the same ball the kid in the beginning was bouncing. I told my daughter no bouncing it as I feared she would be a 4 year old and copy but as I was correcting and telling my child this she goes”we will not be bouncing that in here” and again fine but I was already taking care of my child who was standing at my side. Not a friendly location and sadly will wait till I can get to Douglassville anytime for here on out because again their employees are amazing and very very helpful and sweet. Very sad by this experience at this location as I really do love...
Read moreI don’t want someone else to waste 20 minutes of their life on this. I went into Starr Books in Royersford to bring in some used books for a discount (a service they offer). When I walked in (I have been there a few times before) the man behind the counter pretty much huffed when he saw my bag of books. I placed them on the counter and he explained the discounts- briefly and irritated as if he didn’t want to take the books..He also said I had to pick one option: donate or return and wasn’t going to let me sort through them when he was done, b/c apparently that would take “too much time.” Ok, so I selected return then...What he also failed to mention was that he wouldn’t take a look at them right then and there while was shopping. I spent 20-30 minutes finding other books for the kids and when I went back to the counter, none of the books I brought were even touched. He said, sorry, didn’t have time (in such a way that he was almost excited to tell me that, which is disturbing.) So then I was supposed to just buy the books that I had in my hand? Leave my books there? Not sure, but I wasn’t about to find out. Left the books there that I was going to buy, and took my old books with me. My point in this whole review is that if this is your business model, treat it as such. Be kind and don’t be rude. Terrible shame, b/c I really...
Read moreI am sooo very disappointed in Starr Books - Royersford. I was so excited to go see their book selection and take my son who loves books. He did a typical 5 year old run around the store so I did correct him and he stopped. The cat there is super adorable so of course being a small child my son was excited to see the cat. He was gentle and nice the cat went behind the counter so he leaned down just to look at it but never went behind the counter. The woman working told him he can’t go back there. So I had to tell her he wasn’t he was just looking at the cat. He then realized I forgot my keys on the bench so he went to run over to grab my keys not even toward the cat and she had the nerve to tell him not to run at the cat. There was absolutely no reason for her to be correcting my child when I was already doing so. Sadly he really wanted a book and a stuffed animal so we still made a purchase. But if you have kids do not go there they are not kid friendly and are very rude. We will NEVER be...
