Checkers — Restaurant in Lincoln Park

Ok. I don't know what to say except for this is unacceptable... I'm going to start from the beginning I ordered a spicy chicken with no lettuce add tomato a checker burger. Now I got the same thing last week and they messed it up... didn't mention it but this time I pull up to the windows and I check my food. And of course it was wrong. She wanted to argue with me and say I didn't say no lettuce, yes I did. How did you hear the tomato. I also noticed that the chicken was old can not even warm and it was hard as a rock. she then said "those just came out a few minutes ago" shocked i said there's still lettuce on it. She took it back and scraped the lettuce off and gave it back. I didn't realize that till I took a bite as I was pulling out. I realized it turned around and came back. I went into the walk up. And told the guy there what was wrong. I asked for it to be made fresh. He says ok. I wait there for another 10 min. He hands me a new bag with my sandwich in it and i didn't check this time like an idiot. I drive home. And not only is there lettuce and no tomato they put ketchup on it like what in the world... it's not crazy busy why are they so rude and don't care about what we asked and paid for. This isn't cheep anymore! So I didn't take any chances with either sandwich had to go back out and get food somewhere else. We are beyond just replacing my food i believe... no one is holding these employees accountable and it is completely unacceptable. I will be...

I went to place an order online. The order was $18.85. Their website said the order could not be processed at this time, no big deal. So I went there to order my food and pay in person. Cashier says my card was declined. This is because they had charged me 4 times for the online order that "wouldn't process." I asked for either my online order or a refund. They said I would have to call back the following day; they took almost $80.00 off of my card which wiped it out which is why it got declined in person.

They couldn't find my order, said I would have to pay another way if I wanted food. At this point, I wasn't worried figuring I would get refunded the next day, so I bought a meal with cash.

I called every day for the next 4 days, and every time they said to call back tomorrow. Then I finally got ahold of the general manager who was rude about the whole thing making it seem like it was my fault.

They took my last 80 dollars and held it for 10 full days. This is completely unacceptable. Did not offer me even a free burger for the trouble. Nothing. So should they have to pay interest on borrowing my last 80 dollars for 10 whole days without my permission? Of course that's "not how it works" but neither is taking money from people and just hanging on to it for however long. Never again will I spend a penny at any checkers since this is...

It hurts me to write this review. We love Checkers! But I have to share this experience.

My father-in-law loves the Big Buford hamburger. And so do I, for that matter. My wife likes a simple checkers burger. And of course the world's famous fries!

So for our meal, including my father-in-law, we ordered two big Buford combos large, and my wife got a single rally Burger combo large. She also ordered a loaded of fries to try.

When we got to my father-in-law's house, we discovered how disappointing the burgers were. My Big Buford didn't have that famous rallies/checker flavor. I had two overcooked patties with some basic condiments. I had no lettuce or tomato, or mayo. Maybe I got someone else's burger?

My wife's checker burger was so bad that she couldn't eat more than one or two bites.

My father-in-law got the new Smokey bacon BBQ, Big Buford. He enjoyed his sandwich, but he's 84 and doesn't complain much about anything!

The fries this evening were lukewarm and greasy. They tasted like they were cooked in very old oil. That made the loaded fries unremarkable.

I understand that we're in a recession, and labor is a challenge. But we spent almost $40 at a fast food joint for three people to eat burgers and fries.

We will try them again in a little while, I'm not giving up on...
