Park Restaurant — Restaurant in Lincoln Park

This mom and pop restaurant used to be good. Went there almost weekly when I was a child (with my parents). Wanted to surprise them last weekend & take them there for lunch. It was a TOTAL disaster. So sad how this restaurant has gone downhill.

My mother & BF ordered beef barley soup & there was no beef in it. It didn't even have beef stock. Weird ... and the staff didn't seem too concerned.

My mother ordered a chopped steak. It arrived & it was way over cooked & the grilled onions on top were black. So we sent it back. My BF got a turkey club sandwich which he liked.

My father & I ordered fish & chips. Besides taking a very long time to come out (we were the only ones in the restaurant at this time) both orders were raw on the inside. So we sent these back as well. They remade them & they came back the same way. And they were arguing with us too saying that's good fish & they've never had problems with my it. So my father ordered chopped steak & I just gave up & ate my fries.

Waitress made a loud snarky comment to the cook that we didn't like anything.

When the bill came it still had my fish dinner on it. I refused to pay for that and called her out on the snarky comment as well.

Quality of the chopped steak was much different from the past & was just a frozen patty. Can't understand why this dive is still in business. Avoid...

This place is dirty, old, stinky & does NOT have fresh tasting food. Lost my appetite coming into this place. Needs a complete renovation. We recieved dirty silverware, wrong drinks, scrambled eggs were still raw, potatoes accommodations were not met & wrong meat order. We picked over our food and everything else was taken for the dog. Waitress seemed to rush & clearly wasn't listening. Asked if they had a high chair for our son she said she may have one & would go check in the back. She never came with anything nor did I see her ever go check in the back. I didn't press the issue. As I could only imagine if they had a high chair how dirty it may have been. Coming in through the back their are mouse traps and junk stored against the walls. Spider webs on the windows, plants and ceilings. We sat on a broken filty booth in the corner. I wish I would have snapped a couple pictures, but I was too busy holding my child on my lap. I do not know how this place has so many good reviews. Both entry doors were wide open so I assume they had no a/c. We came in the morning so it wasn't too hot. This place needs a surprise visit from a health inspector. Not very clean looking but was willing to give it a chance. After walking in we were not greeted and seated ourselves. Waitress came and ONLY place silverware in the table. We were not offered any thing to drink to start off while looking over the menu. When asked for plastic ware the lady turned her face up as if to say 'how dare you ask for something like that". Some time passed still no service or acknowledgement mind you the place is not busy (my view looking into the work area she stacked slices of cheese with no gloves) 3 white gentleman walked in and you guessed it they were greeted, offered water AND asked if they needed time to look over the menu. Now, given that there were clear signs of us needing to turn around, I'm one to give the benefit of the doubt, never judge a book by its cover, not okay the race card and to form my OWN opinion. I'm not going to say that this place doesn't serve blacks/persons of color because there was a family leaving as we walked in. I WILL however say, that this is MY experience with this place.
