Cupcakes and More — Restaurant in Lincoln

I really hate leaving reviews like this but I hope I help someone. I was not pleased with Cupakes and More and their products for my wedding.

We decided on a 4 tier cake with a grooms cake for my wedding. We also had 6 mini sheet cakes, all different flavors.

A couple months before the wedding I decided to change the design to something way simpler because I was nervous the original cake would not be what I envisioned. So I sent an email a couple months before with the new design I wanted. The day of the wedding, the cake showed up and it was the original cake design. The one I decided against. The cake looked okay.

Now here is the real issue.

My husband is a United States Marine. I really wanted the grooms cake to be amazing in honor of his service and scarifies to this country. Anyone who knows the different branches, knows the rivalry’s of the different branches. I had sent Cupcakes and More a picture of the cake I wanted. A simple square cake that looks like my husbands cammies with his rank, name and U.S Marines patch on the chest. I sent exact pictures of what they looked like, the specific pattern. They pretty much spray painted a “camo” look on the cake. It looked very sloppy, it was already cracking when they set it up and looked nothing like my husbands actual cammies. They didn’t even have his rank on the collar. It felt like a slap in the face and I hate to sound this way but it was a very, very important piece of our special day and it was just ruined. I was actually embarrassed to show my husband the cake. It portrayed Army more than Marines and that is just not okay.

For anyone reading this and thinking of using Cupcakes and more for the most important day of your lives, be extra cautious in your designs and be very specific about what you want so this doesn’t happen to you.

When you do everything you can to make sure your day is perfect and someone else has the power to completely throw it off, that’s what stinks the most.

The mini sheet cakes were a hit however, everyone loved all the different choices of cake. So thank you...

Very disappointed. First and last time using this bakery. This business claims they accept orders via Facebook messenger, phone, or email. So I sent them a FB messenger order 2 weeks before I needed my son's birthday cake. I was messaged back that this was absolutely possible and it would be ready to go at the time I selected on the set date. I responded back right away with a time window as to when I would pick it up. I even messaged them back a couple days later with more ideas for the cake, saw that the message was received, but heard nothing back. I thought that seemed odd, but I let it go. As a curtesy to them, I even messaged them with a reminder the day before I was to pick up my cake. Again, I could see that they had received the message, but again did not respond to it. I showed up the following day to pick up my cake, only to be met by two clueless employees who had no idea what I was talking about. They scurried around the bakery and came back with news that, "Oh no, our boss never made an order sheet for this FB messenger cake order." So the cake was never even made! They told me they could probably get started on it and have it made by 3pm that day. Obviously frustrated, I asked my husband to come inside. He told the employees that this was not our problem, and this cake was promised to us at this time. They said they would make it and deliver it to us. They did follow through on this, and it was sent to our home that afternoon. Although I will say the design was pretty cute, and mostly what I had in mind, the cake itself was just plain bad. The flavor was bland and almost tasteless. Many other reviews have mentioned how their cake tasted like a box mix - absolutely correct, except a box mix has more flavor. And our whole family noticed how the edges of the cake were "crunchy" due to being burnt. Evidence of this was hidden under the frosting, but was very noticeable. We were still charged a $40 fee for a tasteless, rushed-to-create cake that was never made on time. I will never ever return to this bakery and I will share my story...

UPDATE: I am very impressed at how the owner Regina handled the problem with the cake. She was easy to work with and really nice. We sre taking the incident with my granddaughters cake as an isolated incident. I will say the cake was delicious we had them make a marble cake with milk chocolate and vanilla. I loved the frosting. It wasn't over powering sweet. It was really good. Shelby enjoyed the flavor we picked needless to say we will be giving them another chance. So I'm giving them 5 stars for how well everything was handled.

We ordered a unicorn cake for my granddaughter birthday party on Feb 26th. When we called and ordered it we were told they had edible cake clay that they could make a 3D unicorn. Shelby loves unicorns. We told them her favorite color is pink and wanted pink to be a big part of it. We picked up the cake the night before and when we picked it up my fiance went in to get it.. he paid for the cake and she started to hand him the cake.. my granddaughter was in the car and every place else I've ever picked to get a cake from they always put it I. A box to protect i,, not here. We were told they didn't have a box for a 9" cake. How ridiculous. Tyson said Shelby was in the car it was supposed to be a surprise. She taped two boxes together and we took it straight to the place where the party was to happen. When taking the cake out of the box I looked it over. The cake was leaning and very uneven it didn't look really like a univorn and it was a cake i could have made and saved ourselves $65. It disnt even say Happy Birthday Shelby like we asked for. One who side of the cake was bare. It looked like they forgot to make it and slapped it together quickly. Every adult at the party commented on the sloppinesss, and unprofessional job they did, and how she couldn't believe we had a bakery make it. Shelby wasn't even excited when she saw it.
