Let me start off by saying that the food at Florio’s is INCREDIBLE. It’s amazing. I found Florio’s by scrolling through my UberEats app one day, and have ordered countless times for their food to be delivered to my home. Being a dedicated customer to this Florio’s for over a year, but having never been to the physical restaurant, I decided that I’d go for my birthday and bring a handful of people. My family was in town visiting from Boston, so the four of us, plus my boss and her husband, agreed to eat supper at Florio’s on Sunday, June 21. We don’t get days off at the farm, so we worked hard and fast in order to finish up evening chores in time to get to Florio’s. Since the restaurant closes at 9, my mom called around 7:30 to ask if it would be okay for a party of six to come in around 8:15, and the woman assured us that it would be fine, and that we could even sit on the patio to enjoy the beautiful evening. We arrived at exactly 8:15 and were greeted by a very perturbed waitress who made it VERY clear that we were not welcome. I told her that my mom had called ahead, and her only statement was that we “need to order fast.” It was off-putting, but since my family and I had ordered Florio’s through UberEats before, we already knew what we wanted anyway. We were seated, and then approached by another waitress who was only slightly less annoyed by our presence. It was VERY clear that we were unwelcome, so when my mom apologized for being late, her statement was “oh, I don’t care, but our cooks want to leave and need to clean up.” Okay, I get that. However, it would have saved us the trouble of driving to the restaurant if when we called ahead they would have said they did not have time to serve us if we came in at 8:15. We ordered quickly and after my mom and my boss’s husband ordered shrimp dishes, we were told that there was only one shrimp left in the entire restaurant. Odd, but alright. Two waitresses came back with silverware and bread, and one VERY blatantly kicked one of the nearby chairs in our direction, and then threw the silverware on the table. Outrageous. We also ordered two Pepsi’s and one Dr. Pepper, and when they arrived at the table, they were warm and flat. After stating our concerns to the waitress she said “oh, yeah, we’re out of CO2, the truck for that comes on Tuesdays.” I asked if she normally serves flat sodas to customers in that situation and she said yes, and that “only one person has ever complained.” The waitress offered different beverages, and I asked for a Hi-C Fruit Punch. She came back after a few minutes and declared that the soda gun was broken and there was no possible way to get any drinks other than water. I was done. I asked her to pack up our food so we could leave, and of course she happily obliged, after all, their plan to get us to leave had worked! Turns out that treating customers offensively and giving them zero options for food AND drinks makes the decision to leave very easy. Her only closing remark was “we’re open later on weekends.” Here’s the bottom line: I will run this restaurant’s name through the mud to anyone and everyone I come across. How completely embarrassing to talk highly about the food and then be treated like garbage, when out with my family AND my boss for a celebratory supper. I will not ever be ordering food from this restaurant again, let alone recommending this business to ANYONE. I have never felt so unwelcome and betrayed by a restaurant that had served me well in the past. Awful awful awful. The key to enjoying this business is obviously to NOT enter the building at all, because you will be made to feel small, disgusting and undesirable. Your staff has single handedly lost the support of a well-tipping customer, a large and well-known local farming business, and the respect of out of towners coming in from a big city. I understand how small businesses work, and this restaurant will NOT survive if this is how employees are treating...
Read moreWe came here for my bachelorette party on the 13th of June. This was the worst dining experience I have ever had. It was so bad, that almost a month later I am coming to give a review. I am a server, and have worked as a server for the last five years so I knew that having a large party (11) may come with some small issues. This is not what we got. The server skipped over one person when taking drink orders, and seemed annoyed when she came back with our drinks (15 minutes later) and had to go get another one. One person ordered the appetizer that had 3 different items in it, calamari, shrimp, and mozzarella cheese sticks. Planning to share everything but the cheese sticks. When the food came out, there were no cheese sticks. When we asked the server, she told us they were out so they had substituted, and then walked away. Not offering any sort of compensation or other food solution. My sister ordered the shrimp appetizer, and 35 minutes after everyone else’s food came out (everyone else was done by the time her food came out) without even an apology. Working in restaurants, I know the only way this would happen is if the server didn’t put it in. Not once during dinner were we offered drink refills (water or alcoholic), and even had to go find our own pitcher to fill up our water glasses. Then came time for the bill, which just getting the server to come over and give it to us was a hassle. We did split the check into 6 checks, which I know can be a hassle, but it took her 30 minutes to come back with them. My sister who is only 20, ordered a mock tail, and was charged as a martini. After that, and everything else we asked to speak to a manager. When the manager came over, she was rude and abrasive from the very start. She talked down to me, lied, changed her story, and refused to do anything to make our TERRIBLE experience any better. She even tried saying it’s because another big party had come in, when we had had reservations for a Thursday night for over a month. And I wasn’t asking for much. I thought the person who ordered the combo, and didn’t get what she ordered without any advanced warning, and then was not offered any other options should be a least discounted if not comped, and that my sister who couldn’t eat with everyone else and waited 35 minutes after everyone else’s should be comped. The manager would not even do this. I also think that them putting prices on all of the cocktails on the menu, but not the mock tails and then charging them as a full cocktail is deceptive. After arguing, it took another 30 minutes to cash out. I was out celebrating one of the biggest moments of my life, and this was supposed to be a great way to start my night, but it was the worst dining experience of my life. I’m sure I’m forgetting things because it was a few weeks ago, but DO...
Read moreIt was okay. We are a large family; the majority of our children being teens and young adults. We made reservations early in the day for a 8pm birthday dinner for our 18 yr old daughter. It was on a Monday. They weren't very busy. They sat us as soon as we got there, so no waiting:). Restaurant appeared clean and well maintained (I didn't check the restroom). I would have liked to give 5 stars, however, what's most important to me when stepping foot in an establishment is the interaction with staff. No noticeable greeting welcoming us, nor was there an opportunity to exchange greetings. My husband & I, and five out of 8 of our kids dined there that night. At $30+/plate $3.xx/person beverages- we spent a few hundred bucks at this restaurant on a Monday night; and short of round robin ordering, we didn't have any conversation with staff or managers. No small talk, no recommendations, no happy birthday, etc. I work in business and my husband and I own a few businesses, and I wouldn't feel right if any of my clients or customers were not treated as if their presence matter. I rather dine at a shotgun hole in the wall burger grease shack knowing there's warmth, hospitality and acknowledgment from the staff who represents the business. Food was good; albeit not worth going back for though, not when the customer facing staff chooses to not share their face with customers. Plenty other places for us to take our children, our family, and feel welcome. Hopefully it was just an off night for the staff. To clarify, I'm not advising against checking out Florio's, I encourage you to. I'm simply summarizing my unpleasant experience, hoping itwas a fluke. Thanks for reading...
