Tanners fails to be the sports place you hope it to be because it lacks identity. Been there many times and no two experiences are alike.
Nebraska is a sports town and if Tanner's wants to be considered a sports bar, stop playing music when NFL or College Football games are on. This is without exception! Some times when asking to have 'any' game sound on rather the music I feel as though the staff cringes as if this is a difficult request to fulfill. In one instance we were told the managers office was locked and they had no access to the controls. Really!?
Many people come to Tanners on Sundays because it has the NFL Package and people want to watch games they can't see otherwise. But unfortunately the TV management is lacking. We have walked in at noon on a Sunday and see many of the TVs don't even have an NFL game on yet. This makes it difficult to pick a table. In addition, many times the same game is on two TVs right next to each other. I've also had cases where I've been watching a game since kickoff and the game goes into OT and then someone changes the channel. There is simply no semblance of order. On one Sunday they changed 8 of the 22 TVs to Nebraska Volleyball halfway through the first batch of NFL games. This upset many of us who were invested in our game and then there was resistance from the staff to change some of the channels back. While I realize it's difficult to be all things to all people, please come up with a system and stick to the script. Then people know what they are in for when going to Tanners and can make an informed decision.
While Tanners is modern, clean, and has good food, it really misses the mark when it comes to being a sports bar. TV and sound management is everything and the failure to nail this defeats the purpose of being a sports bar. While we have had some fun times, the experience is too unpredictable and none of my friends are willing to go there anymore. I hope someone in management takes this as...
Read moreSo I am no longer going to give them my business. I am sorry to say this but this review is on the staff. Food has always been amazing in my opinion. However the problem I had tonight is that my wife is in a wheelchair and we sit at the tables that are tables and not the bar type tables. I don’t like having to wedge my wife at a table between others that have a big group. So we where trying to wait for them to clean off a table for use. I understand how some places the waitress or waiter for that area has to clean off the tables. Tonight there was two ladies that where standing doing absolutely nothing. The worst part is that They looked at us and saw we were waiting for the table to be cleaned off and did nothing at all. The waitress that had that table did make it over as we left she was working her tail off and I appreciate that she made it when she did but I can not stand seeing other employees stand around and do nothing to help another waitress out when they are clearly not doing anything els in...
Read moreI went in to order a to go order and originally stated that I would like battered, blaired and charred and then asked what the blaired meant. Realizing that was too hot for me I said nevermind, can I do buffalo instead.
I did not feel I had to state again or reiterate that I wanted battered, buffalo and charred. But when I got my order it was only battered and buffalo. I have only ever gone to tanners to get them charred. They are super soggy otherwise.
When I called to ask about this and possibly be refunded, both the manager and server said that " I ordered wrong and it was a misunderstanding" and did nothing to change the outcome of these actions.
I will not refer anyone to Tanner's again and think that this quality of service was terrible. I am a paying customer and tipped pretty appropriately for a to go order and feel like this should have been resolved...
