Cook Out — Restaurant in Lincolnton

When cookout first open years ago we had to try out the new fast food joint in town. I wasn't impressed, I ordered a burger w/ fries and a drink. The burger size to me was similar to a kids hamburger you get off a kids menu and the fries where not cooked all the way. Ok, they are new and it's a mad house here. Maybe we'll try it later we understood, new restaurant lots of people, there are going to be mistakes the first week. I never went back to cookout until one night after a local auction I had a relative ask if we like milkshakes, really who don't like milkshakes. So we got invited for milkshakes didn't know where until we pulled into cookouts parking lot. Ok I'm game, I ordered a pineapple milkshake one of the others with our group order a burger with her shake. The staff was very friendly, place was clean all except the drink area, it needed attention. There was lots of teens in the restaurant didn't really see much of the family type groups. My shake tasted all Vanilla, the pineapples where smaller than the crushed you get from a can at the grocery store. The burger, it still looked the same years later. I ask her why did she order a burger it looks like a kids burger, it don't fill you up. She agreed, her reply was she just wanted a snack. They only come for the milkshakes we where told, you have to try different ones until you find one that is your favorite because there's a lot that taste like Vanilla. My opinion you want a burger there's a restaurant that stays open 24 hours a few doors down if you don't mind waiting in the drive - thru. You like the kids menu and Vanilla shakes. The chicken was dry and the fries was cold. This was a great place to eat but now they have started going down hill. Messing up orders and the food is not good anymore. I did eat there at least once a week and now I don't eat there but every other month. I always hope that it is better than the last time.

Update: Cookout posted to this above review for me to contact them. I did not do that but I have went back twice just to see if anything had changed. Well it did but not for the good! My "big double burger tray" was not a big double AT ALL! I could have gotten a regular cheese burger from McDonald's that would have more meat on it. The fries that time was good. I went back tonight and got a BBQ Chicken tray that tasted like it was cooked WITH charcoal not on the grill. The fries had so much salt that after about 5 I was done! And the BBQ Chicken was so dry this time you would have needed at least 1 huge tea per bit. I am not sure if it is the cook or what but I am sure not going back to this location. The floor had spit on it and looked like it had not been touched by a broom or a mop in at least a week. I truly hope that SOMEONE from the home office will see this update and do something about the employees that just don't care about their job. I am 100% sure that if someone from the home office would walk in this place at night, EVERYONE would be looking for a job in about 2 minutes. We were overcharged (apparently intentionally) for our meal.

When we pointed out the error, the server told us that the "prices on the displayed menu were wrong, and they just haven't gotten around to changing them."

In what universe is it okay to display wrong prices?

Also, for years we have gotten a Coke float as the drink that comes with the combo -- there had never been any extra charge for a float. Today the server told us that "of course there's an extra charge, always has been, and an extra charge for soft drinks with a combo as well. "

Seriously? That's not what the sign says (three one describing how to order a combo tray) nor have we ever in maybe 15 years' patronage been charged for a soft drink when ordering a combo tray.

Sounds to us like they have been overcharging people for a very long time. I would love to stand corrected on this, if there is a reasonable explanation.
