Cairo Falafel — Restaurant in Linden

Ordered through Door Dash. Everything was well packed. However, I was missing a pita. I ordered extra 3 but received 2. my husband had the chicken shwarma sandwich. he said it was good. I had the falafel dinner and the rice was OK. I don't have a complaint about that, but the falafel was very spongy and was lacking flavor. Dry. The pita was not the usual pita I can't even describe it. It was a little glutenous. It wasn't your typical pita and I really didn't care for that. I also ordered extra tahini sauce and that was lacking something. I'm not sure really what it was lacking, but it didn't have much flavor and I also ordered hummus which came with one pita and the hummus was missing something so I don't know if it was maybe not enough lemon or garlic, but it was very bland. The baklava was OK. It wasn't very moist and it just had an OK flavor. This is just my experience and perhaps you like the flavor more than I but I probably won't be ordering from this restaurant again. 5/2025- was looking for a falafel place. My very first visit to Falafel Feast was just WOW!! the food was crazy delicious, we ordered 2 platters of Chicken kabab, Kofta kabab and chicken fingers with fries to our kids and they all were extremely delicious and even too much to eat it all at once. About the place, it was neat, simple and clean (especially nowadays with that COVID craziness) with tables for 2 and 4 people. The atmosphere is very comfortable and evolving especially, when you have a conversation with the owner while he prepares your order. He's a so nice welcoming egyptian guy who I would definitely love to taste his other plates again. You would miss a lot of fun and enjoy if you didn't give that restaurant a try especially that it's Halal restaurant with so much reasonable price. While the grilled meats are delish, something seems off with rice that comes with the meats, it started smelling later the same day and worse the next.

The breads are delicious plus the humus and babaghanoush. Tried the rice twice. Did a large tray catering and the rice was smelling. Not sure if it's because they are mixing old and new rice or it's just sitting outside in the hot weather. The same day I ordered a single serving meat shawarma with rice and that seemed fine even the next day. So definitely the catered tray was a mostly old rice which is bit disappointing coz their meats (all varieties) are delish!

Sandwiches are the best way to go. Hope they fix giving out old rice otherwise the food is delicious.
