I was really excited for this place to open up. I didn't visit on opening night, hoping to dodge the bigger crowds. I ended up visiting over the weekend, on both Friday and Saturday evenings. With styling reminiscent of a 50s burger joint, Freddy's is like a Johnny Rocket's that isn't trying too hard. They have a cool, retro environment; the only thing missing is a pinball machine. The servers were all very polite, and professional.
On Friday, I ordered the Double California Burger Combo; I subbed the softdrink for a vanilla custard malt. The food was done pretty quickly considering the place was packed and the drive-thru was backed up, outside of the parking lot. It's a bit tight where you have to stand and wait for your order to be called as there's a bar-height table with stools, directly adjacent to the pickup counter. This needs to be rethought but, it doesn't affect my score.
I took my order to go, got home, turned on some Netflix and proceeded to chow down. The first bite was really good. The burgers have a distinct flavor of their own, the lettuce, tomatoes and onions on the sandwich were extremely fresh, something that can be hit or miss at these types establishments, even when they have good foot traffic. The fries were ok. I do like thin fries but, these seem like they'd be better if I dined in and they were fresh out of the oil. Being as thin as they are, they cool down pretty quickly. Other than that, they were well seasoned and the fry sauce was tasty, too. The Malt? Thick, Creamy and Delicious.
On Saturday, I ordered the Spicy Chicken Combo, add lettuce, tomato and onion, lost the pickles (who's idea was this?). Made this order a large, which had a positive impact on the my fry temp. They kept each other warm until I got home, those loving and caring little spuds. The chicken was crispy and seasoned pretty good. Very very good. I subbed the softdrink, this time for a vanilla custard shake with strawberries and bananas mixed in. OMG... Fresh Strawberries and Bananas in the shake. No syrupy, candied strawberries and banana flavoring, real fresh fruit. That was a huge plus for me. I can't wait to try some of the other custard options.
Overall, I had a very positive experience and I will be a returning regular. I'm actually considering going this very minute as I write this review😅 I'm telling anybody who'll listen to give it a...
Read moreThe restaurant boasts impressively low prices that set it apart from typical fast-food joints, contributing significantly to its remarkable five-star rating. Diners can expect generous portions, and beautifully presented dishes that vividly reflect the enticing images on the menu. Each meal is prepared to order, ensuring that everything arrives piping hot and cooked to absolute perfection.
The varied menu is packed with delicious items, including mouthwatering, juicy burger steak sandwiches that remain tidy and manageable, even when adorned with your favorite condiments and creamy cheese sauce. Freshness is paramount here; for instance, the hot dog rolls are buttery and toasted making your hit dogs create a delightful texture that complements the fillings. That was a home run
This establishment is an ideal choice for families on the move, particularly when kids are craving something satisfying. Additionally, the ice cream and shakes—crafted from rich custard—are not to be missed. If thick, indulgent shakes are your thing, be sure to try the concrete shake, which comes generously topped with a variety of delicious sundae toppings.
In summary, this place comes highly recommended for anyone in search of a fulfilling meal experience, and don’t forget to mention that Maumoney sent you; it might just add a special touch...
Read moreAfter taking a trip to Kansas and having Freddy’s for the first time I was a bit depressed that I wouldn’t have the chance to enjoy this new amazing fast food chain again since I had no plans on ever going back to Kansas. I’m from NY and to my knowledge there isn’t any here but to my surprise my wife found this one in NJ. We packed up our kids and went on a foodie road trip and man It was worth it. You have to go give them a try. The manager is definitely top class. Very cool older gentleman who treated my family like we were his own. You don’t see this anymore especially from chain food joints. He ran the place hands on and the food was just as good as the service. The burgers are of the smashed type so keep that in mind if like thicker burgers but they tastes amazing. Cheese fries were a banger as well. Cheese curds are fantastic as well but the custards are to die for. Very happy they have this here in New Jersey. It was a joy to have my kids enjoy this place I thought only existed in Kansas. Hope we can get a few more in New York upstate area but if not go visit this one in Jersey. You...
