Mami's Cocina — Restaurant in Linden

Went there on my birthday to order some tacos for a small gathering I was having. Their taco box comes in qty of 20 or 30. I went with the 30 count which divides their protein section into 3rds. While trying to engage with the young lady taking my order she seemed to be annoyed that I was asking her questions about the selection. I don’t eat some of the protein in the tacos they offered so I just asked for a more of the meat I chose which would just make the box Half and Half instead of 3rds.

Seemingly annoyed she told me it would be extra which I thought that was weird because I wasn’t asking for something not included on the order or even an extra qty of tacos in the box but it didn’t matter I was going to pay it.

I’m ready to pay and I ask her how much it was Once again responded annoyed with “how much is what?” Like we didn’t just talk about a whole order. She in asked her a woman in Spanish (which I understand very well btw) what the up charge would be and she kindly responded there wouldn’t be one.

Great I thought that was weird anyway but I’m glad that wasn’t really a thing especially since I wasn’t making a drastic enough change to the order. She tally’s up the total that she wasn’t ever sure of that’s already over $40 and let’s me know at the very end there’s a “card fee” odd for something over $10 but again not a deal….the card fee was $4 guys lol.

I didn’t feel very welcomed as a matter of fact it almost felt as if she was deterring me from buying from there. Had I had more time I would’ve definitely taken my dollar somewhere else but since I was in a pinch and it was super close by I paid for what I thought was...

This is the first time that I left a restaurant without finishing even half of my food, and I wish I could rate it less than one star. This is the worst Mexican food, or probably just food that I have ever tasted. The tacos taste terrible, the veggies in fajita are stale, the chimichanga looks ashamed of itself. I should have walked out when I was served chips with a runny sauce instead of salsa, and when they told me that they ran out of Guacamole. The servers are fine, nothing against them. But the food is embarrassing. I wish I had gone to Jose Tejas instead, or even Taco Bell honestly. What's worse is that the food looks nothing like the pictures they have on Instagram and Google. I even have a hunch that all the good reviews are from friends and family because it's hard to believe someone would actually enjoy this food.

EDIT AFTER OWNER'S REVIEW: I am well aware that TexMex and Mexican cuisine are different, I've had both. I'm sure stale fajitas and runny ketchup-like salsa isn't a part of either cuisine. Also, I'm sorry you're the only restaurant that runs out of a major food item in the middle of business hours. And you don't get to decide if my having an opinion is fair or not. I'd suggest working on improving your customer experience instead of defending a review. And like I said, the servers were very polite. The food was just horrible. I ordered 4 different items and all of them sucked. So I have zero motivation to try anything that you refer to as...

I placed an order for take out ... i love that our mayor proudly promoted this place i had no idea there was a mexican reataurant in linden.. i love trying out new restaurant and rating them. I had ordered a steak tacos with everything on it including the sauces ... i also order the rice and beans and guacamole and chips .. i would say it was very delicious the tacos i love that it was homemade and it wasnt too salty the flavor was just right no complaint .. i drizzle in those sauces there was a greenish and reddish sauce very good goes very well.with the meal ... the guacamole and chips on point and the rice and bean was absolutely delicious .. i will be ordering here...
