I really want to give this place 5* but I can't. It wasn't super busy. But it took a solid 15 minutes before our order was taken. There were only 2 tables ahead of our order. But it took another 45 minutes+ for our pizza to come.
Ordered a large beef and bacon deep dish. I've worked at 4 different pizza restaurants. So I'm well trained in how to make a proper pizza. Sauce and cheese were properly portioned.
However, the beef and bacon were not. Pizza base cost was already excessive. They do not provide any free toppings and the cost per is high. So I paid an additional around $5 for two toppings.
For about $5 I got around $0.50 of toppings. Like a tiny 25c candy machine kid handful each. The amount severely reduced and greatly lacking from standard for a two topping pizza. The quantity was decreased per topping as if it was a 5+ topping pizza.
If the price is going to be so high for pizza and toppings both customers expect/demand a reasonable quantity. Reading other reviews this is far from an isolated incident.
An hour wait is excessively long. When the pizza arrived at the table it was still not fully cooked. Raw uncooked crust at the bottom. The next day reheating it the lower crust was fully cooked and it tasted much better.
All I know is we spent a lot of money (almost $40 with tip) for a single pizza that would have been excellent if not for long wait, under cooked, and only 1/4 of the toppings required.
I left feeling ripped off by at least $10. (Your customers should never feel this way or they won't return).
I hope the owners and management read this review and engage. I really want to give this place a second chance at a 5* rating.
I'd rather speak up, hopefully have them address the issues, and try again for an excellent experience. But as it sits without proper intervention I...
Read moreWe drove 1.5 hours to get to the Litchfield location today (8-12) . Not one of the people who I have ever seen was working. Was sat right away and drinks. Then started the wait. I counted 6 tables in the place besides us. One had ordered everyone else was waiting, understandable because I didn't know how long they had been waiting. Now, being a lover of stuffed crust Chicago style pizza... wr make the drive once a month or so. And knowing it takes around 30-40mins to bake ,I am understanding. But when an hour and 20 mins goes by and no pizza, no refills of drinks and no explanation of the delay, I get upset. Then my pizza comes out and thinner than a Pizza Hut hand tossed? Head scracher.. when asked I am told that IS a Stuffed Crust. Now, remember when I said I make an 1.5 hour drive there monthly to eat? I KNOW BETTER!! Then the manager comes out and tells me that it is this is the thickest pizza they make...AT THIS LOCATION!! Then why is THAT table have a 2 1/2 pizza and this one is a Pizza Hut pan at most? This franchise only makes 1 inch crust I'm told. There is only 3 explanations here. 1), The server placed the order wrong. 2). The kitchen didn't make it right. Or 3). The other 15 plus times I've been there they were making it incorrect and serving the best damn pizza around. So, Nancy's...I would love an explanation. And also, when it was questioned, the manager complete indifferent attitude towards us. I am just completely unsatisfied. P.S. I sat and didn't eat anything. Had gas station chicken...
Read moreWe travel back and forth from southern Illinois to Chicago at least once per month, and we have seen the sign for Nancy's Chicago Style Pizza. We finally stopped to try it out on the recommendations of friends who have eaten at Nancy's on similar trips back and forth. They have always raved about the pizza and encouraged us to give Nancy's a try. Wow! They were right! This is the best pizza we have had in a long, long time. The crust is very good. It was thick enough and moist enough to support the rest of the pizza, and it was not so thick as to be the dominant part of the pizza. The selection of cheese's was very tasty, and there was enough of it to cover the toppings without overpowering the taste of the toppings. The toppings were ample and evenly distributed. The pizza was served hot and the pieces were all cut completely through. The service was excellent in spite of it being a Sunday evening when so many eateries don't have their best crew working. We will definitely be stopping at Nancy's again, and we recommend it whole-heartedly for anyone who finds themselves in the vicinity at mealtime. If you are on the road, it is definitely waiting another hour or so of driving down...
