Lets start with no one greets you or let's you know anything. I was here a few years ago and back doing work. I brought a friend and had another drive an hour. Last time I sat at the bar and it was perfect and the same guy is there still. Bar was full as we looked around to check in or get anyone to talk to us. I've had more interaction at a dive bar. Once I asked the bar guys about sitting we waited around. Yeah no one. We walked to a small bar near us in a side room. She said order here and someone will bring it out. Oh like McDonald's ok. We had burgers and fries. I know I had a nice steak(not a flat iron one) last time at the bar. I asked for a different menu, was told no by a bus boy who I had to flag down since No one is here for the patron. The burgers had no flavor at all, over done. A fast food burger had more taste and enjoyment. Fries, cold and salted when I asked for no salt. The other 2 burgers, just as bad. I went back to the lady at the small bar because I wanted a drink, again no service get everything yourself. SHE IS SICK. She is doing the best to cover her mouth when coughing several times while talking to me and making my drink. No mask for herself to hopefully protect others. I'm not a mask guy knowing it only helps control some and me wearing one not sick doesn't stop her from spreading to me. It's a sick person using one to help slow the spread if they are sick. She needs bar school or practice. I had 2 mixed drinks because the first one was so bad she remade it. Such a beautiful place to hang out or stay but I have no interest in returning like I did before. The 3 guys at the main bar had the best attitude and asked me if I needed anything when we were trying to figure anything out here. The one looked like my bartender before who bent over backwards to make sure everything was great(last trip here) we treated him like that to with money. This time, why should I tip, no one did...
Read moreOut with my grandmother and girlfriend on Friday, we ordered our meals at 6:30 but didn't get our food until after 7:30. The service took well over an hour to bring us our meal. 45 minutes in to that wait, my grandmother inquired about the wait time, since that was already unusual, to which the server responded snappy that we should, of course, know to expect this wait since the restaurant was full that evening. He pointed around at the tables. Looking around the dining room they, indeed, did have a packed room but many, many tables sat without food. So many people who had sat down before us were also waiting without food.
Do they know an hour wait for service is too long? Assuming they know that, then why do they continue to take reservations if they can't meet the demand? For such reservations made in advance, they had our contact info and could've called to warn us that a different restaurant would better suit us for the evening.
Maybe I was just in a bad mood then, but my fish entree was mostly bland rice. The Mahi Mahi, apart from the rice, tasted good enough to not complain, but questionably not worth the price.
Two stars (instead of one) because the Old Fashion the bartender made was one of the best I ever had and their beer/wine/cocktail offerings were extensive.
When we were leaving the couple at the table next to us, who were only sitting at their table empty of food for about 30 minutes by that point, I overhead talking about how it was taking a bit of time to get their appetizers.
I guess they, too, didn't get the memo that a full dining room means you have to wait more...
Read moreMy husband and I ate at the Bulls Head Public House while staying in Lititz. We love going to English/Irish pubs and this one definitely did not disappoint.
We ate in the dining room, as it was close to the end of the evening and it was much quieter. The pub bar side was busy and had a lively, fun atmosphere.
We started with the scotch egg and the mushroom toast for our appetizers. The scotch egg was really good--a hard-boiled egg wrapped in sausage and Panko bread crumbs and then deep-fried---it's been a favorite of ours since we first ate it in London! This one was a really good one. But...the mushroom toast was amazing!! It had three types of mushrooms on garlic toast with sea salt--it was SO good!!
We chose two types of pies for our entrees--the chicken & leek pie and the fisherman's pie. Both of those were new to us and once again, they were delicious! The fisherman's pie had two types of fish and shrimp covered in cheddar mashed potatoes and then baked. The chicken & leek pie had tons of chicken with a flaky puff pastry crust. We were definitely happy campers!
We were too full for dessert, but we couldn't pass up sticky toffee pudding (another favorite from England) so we got it to go. If you have never tried sticky toffee pudding, this would be a great place for your first experience with that dessert!!
We would definitely recommend the Bulls Head Public House if you are in Lititz! You will not be...
