Before you read my comments please be aware I have never written a bad review before. However our experience here the other day was awful. And I doubt we will come back.

My cousin and I came here a few days ago. Cute place but as soon as we entered the lady at the counter told us they were closing soon... which was really weird because we got there between 30-40 minutes before they closed. I understand saying that if they were closing in 15 minutes but 30-40 is kind of ridiculous. That's ample time to get some coffee and a sandwich. She acted like we walked in right as they were closing. As my cousin and I were telling the lady our order she seemed very inattentive, after about 45 seconds of pretty much no response from her after we told her what we wanted and her just staring at the order screen, she then asked us what we wanted...like she didn't hear us the first time. After taking our order she then asked us if it was ok to put it into a to go box. Again, it wasn't like we arrived right before close. And if the kitchen was closing that's all she would have had to say. We said the to go box was fine and we sat down and waited for our food. While waiting I noticed the coffee being used for the iced drinks was the coffee on the counter to help yourself....very odd as I've never seen a coffee shop do this. My Cousin and I both got Iced coffees that were very watered down and had no flavor. Her caramel drink tasted like someone dumped sugar packets into it rather then caramel syrup. Once the food arrived we sat outside as we felt like they didn't want us in the coffee shop any longer... (AGAIN we got there about 30-40 minutes before they closed). As we were eating outside, about 15 minutes before 5 when they closed the open sign was taken own and the doors were locked..... If you advertise that you are open until 5 you should not be shutting down 15 minutes before and locking up. Bad experience from start to end. Again I want to say this is my first time I ever wrote a review because of a bad experience... but with the bad customer service, watered down coffee, and closing down early I felt like I needed to. I believe this is probably not something that happens often, and hopefully never happens again. I did not write this to deter others from going to your establishment but as a reminder to the staff that customer service is everything! A simple "If you are ordering food, please be aware the kitchen will be shutting down shortly" would have sufficed.

Thank you for your time in...

This is a great little cafe if you're visiting Lititz. Outdoor seating available infront of the shop- 2 little 4 top patio tables. What we had: Berry smoothie- very refreshing & delicious on a hot summer day. 2 fried eggs- fried to perfection. Grilled Vegetarian wrap on a spinach tortilla- it was really yum served with some kettle chips. Delicious! Avocado toast..... The reason for 3 stars - tho most people would probably give less. This was a ketchup disaster. The staff is extremely accommodating and I know the owner takes great pride in her establishment but this menu option was just a miss. Sliced tomatoes and loads of ketchup it was inedible.

I will be back for the coffee and maybe some of the treats in the baked goods fridge. We won't give up on Slate and hopefully it'll stick around. The aesthetic/ interior design is great. Minimalist, cool with good energy vibes.

There's always room for improvement and plenty of great vegetarian options...

This is a very nice, clean, inexpensive spot for breakfast, lunch, coffee, whatever. The menu is simple but the food is always good. I’m a regular here because of these things.

It changed owners around November 2019. The new owners made just a few small changes and it’s still a really nice place to relax and enjoy some food or coffee/tea, etc. I do wish they’d bring back omelettes, though, as that was one of the menu items that distinguished Slate from the most popular coffee spot in Lititz.

They added live music some evenings and have some great local art on the walls, too - nice touches!

Casual and clean, comfortable, not noisy or overwhelming like the famous coffee chain in town (you know which one I mean - from Seattle). Food is better here because it’s made fresh. Breakfast sandwiches are excellent. Coffee is...

New Owners - Grand opening Nov 1st. I was here before under the previous owners a few times, I always distinctly got the feeling that I wasn't welcome not for any real reason other than I was an inconvenience. One thing I feel like Lititz needs incredibly badly is a cafe that stays open a little bit later than 5:00 p.m. The new owners propose to do just that and they have somehow made it just a little bit more charming and less austere feeling inside, without ruining that modern/organic thing it has going on. The new owners are friendly sisters who seem to know quite a bit about coffee. The staff remains friendly. I hear that they're going to be open from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. starting November 1st so that makes me super happy.

I live in locally and try to support local businesses as much as possible. I woke up early so I could stop in Slate cafe right after they opened on a Saturday morning. I got a blueberry pancake iced latte and a customized 3 egg everything bagel with cheese. The latte was good (it’s always risky when ordering flavored drinks) but I probably wouldn’t order it again. But the breakfast sandwich was absolutely phenomenal. Eggs perfectly cooked over medium, bagel perfectly toasted. Service was great and the environment inside is cool. You can see pride in ownership when you walk in the door. Tons of baked good options if you are into that sort of thing. Keep up the great work! I will stop back in!

Fun fact -- whoever responds to these reviews needs to grow up and maybe try to be less sassy. I'm not your high school buddy to respond to me like that. Cute little cafe to get some work done with ok food and wifi. Customer service may be coordinated by a little bratt, but we really enjoyed a brunch while getting some work done. The only complain is air circulation. We found it not the freshest air in there tovstay long and left with our clothes smelling like the food they cook because of the air circulation issue. Might come back to try more of the menu, but probably not a regular.
