'Not long for this world.'
I'm afraid the days of establishments like Andy's are long gone. While I can appreciate that this place used to be a happening spot for Little Rock folks to go get a burger in the 60s or 70s, fast-forward to 2018 and what you're left with is just rather....gross.
I'm sure the employees try their best and they were very friendly and got our food ready very quickly, but you sort of get the sense that they're fighting a losing battle. It's sort of like trying to save a sinking ocean-liner by giving its smokestack a lick of paint. Well-meaning but ultimately futile.
We had a variety of things at Andy's from a pulled-pork potato to the "salad bar" to baked beans. The food was OK, in the sense that you could make it just as easily (and serve it hotter) in your own kitchen using just a microwave and a bag of pre-chopped lettuce. Bakes potatoes were pre-cooked and stored until ordered; the salad bar no longer exists and has been replaced by a menu item called "salad bar" where they prepare your salad in back for you (?) (which consists mainly of pre-shredded iceberg and pre-shredded cheese); pulled pork was OK; BBQ sauce was acceptable.
However, what really dooms places like this is the facility itself. Small, dingy, with a 1960s-feel that includes decor salvaged from flea markets and sad-looking clocks on the wall that are right out of a seedy motel. The carpet in the dining area was really pretty disgusting and hadn't seen the right side of a steam cleaner for many, many decades. Everything you touched sort of felt like it came with its own helping of decades-long diner grease and the fixins bar cart (containing store-bought 'bacon bits', broccoli, a vat of sour cream and a vat containing an entire semi-melted butter stick) was probably not chilled.
I would've probably been fairer and given this place two stars if I hadn't decided I needed to use the restroom before leaving. Sure wish I hadn't. As you open the wood-paneled door in the wood-paneled wall that leads to the restrooms, you are immediately assailed by tepid sewer aroma - and that is even before you select your gender's restroom and go inside. I literally almost saw my iceberg salad again. If an eating establishment has odors like this pervading, they should be shut down. Restrooms themselves were barely functional, ancient and scary.
I truly am sorry, but Andy's is on the wrong side of history and is not long for...
Read moreI went to the Little Rock location on my lunch break and waited in line for almost 20 minutes to get my food. The speaker for the drive-through is terrible. It’s very low and you can barely understand what is being said. To make matters worse the employee taking the order at the window was dang near whispering. I had to ask her to repeat what she was telling me. I ordered the Andy burger, fries and six piece chicken nuggets. As I waited I took note of the sign hanging in the window that said something along the lines of orders are not premade they are made to order, so they may take longer and you can call in ahead of time. Which is fine because I have no problem waiting if the food is freshly made. I received my food and before I can even pull out of the drive through parking lot I grabbed my fries and they were not only cold but hard like they’ve been sitting for some time. I was unable to turn back around because my lunch break at this point was almost up. Once I got to work I opened up my burger as I normally do and found a small piece of hair inside of the burger on top of the cheese. So not only are the fries in edible but so is the burger.
I wasted my lunch time waiting for food that is going in the trash but also my money as well.
I tried to call the phone number on the receipt but it is cell phone not a regular business phone and no one was available.
I’ll be adding Andy’s to my list of restaurants never to eat at or recommend.
That sign about the food being made to order is a lie and needs...
Read moreMe and my husband went to Andy's for lunch and was not impressed.... I ordered the potato bar and a drink and my husband ordered a double cheese burger, fries, and a drink. My husband was very clear no mayo and the cashier stated she would let them know. We told her we was eating in and she said ok. This was our first time, so we didn't know the process (we was to have a seat and wait for them to say our name) that would've been good to know. When we got our order mine was a plain potato, so I went to the "so called" potato bar and saw old looking hard bacon bits, dried green onions, a big block of hard butter, sour cream, and broccoli that looked like it was from a frozen bag. Truthfully it was disgusting. No cheese so I asked for some and was given a container on processed liquid cheese that tasked like boxed Mac and cheese sauce WEIRD! My husband's burger had mayo, which was disappointing because we made sure to say NO mayo. He returned the burger to get remade which took about 10 min. He said the burger was just so so, nothing special, just a burger. There was another customer we heard having to take back his chicken sandwich because the chicken was undercooked. I really had high hopes of this place and liked the old wooden look inside. Don't see me coming...
