I've been here a several times within the last year and my assessment is I enjoy food here most of the time. I cannot attest to the authenticity of the food or how accurate dishes are to what one might order in Japan. My initial thought upon entering the place was it seemed a bit contrived; it just did not feel authentic. Aesthetically, the restaurant is charming and quaint with a warm, crimson color scheme and various ornamental trinkets. Also, there is a small shop in the front of the restaurant where you can buy various Japanese snacks, foods, and novelties. Very cute!

Every time I have sat down, the server brings out hot towels, which is very refreshing, before taking drink orders.

Mostly, the food was satisfactory, but that really was dependent on the day. Perhaps it has to do with the person preparing the food? Unfortunately, I cannot remember the names of all the dishes I have eaten, but I do remember their tuna tartare is quite lovely, the ramen tends to be high in salt, the octopus dumplings have a strange, post-fresh taste, and the sauce at the bottom of the katsuyadon(?) bowel was terrific.

Back to the quality of the food, I believe the food could be better if more attention was paid to the ingredients used in each dish. It's understandable that frozen seafood may not always taste as good compared to its fresher counterpart, but what is not acceptable is trying to mask said frozen taste with other flavors.

Given the limited options in town, this is actually one of the better places to go for solid East Asian food....

I have never eaten at a Japanese restaurant and I don't like sushi, so I wasn't sure what to expect. However, my husband and I were invited to dinner by my boss from a job I held several years ago and who is still a good friend of mine, so we met him and one of his clients there for dinner about 3 months ago. I wasn't crazy about the food, but I think that's just because I don't care for Japanese food personally. The three men I was dining with all seemed to enjoy their meals very much. The wait staff was very efficient and attentive and extremely nice. Service was excellent and the presentation of the food was quite attractive. The decor of the restaurant was exquisite. Very tastefully done, with a definite Japanese flare just as it should be.... in my humble opinion of course. That's why I decided to give this restaurant such a high rating - it just doesn't seem fair to give it a lower rating because of my own personal tastei when it was quite obvious my dinner mates enjoyed the food very much. If you like Japanese food, I would highly recommend that you give the Mount Fuji Japanese restaurant a try. I don't think that you will find yourself disappointed...

I am having trouble with this review. I have gone to Mt. Fuji for over 8 years now. It has always by far had the best sushi in Arkansas in my opinion. The food had always been incredibly delicious. Why 2 stars then? Their standards have clearly dropped off of a cliff in these "Pandemic" times. The staff seems to have changed significantly leading to much longer wait times.

For a pickup order with two of their common sushi rolls, an entree, and an appetizer my wait time was estimated to be an hour. I ordered at 11:20 AM to beat some lunch hour rush. When I arrived to pickup it wasn't ready. In total it took 1 HOUR AND 25 MINUTES!

Inside the restaurant at the time was three barely occupied tables. This traditionally would be considered a slow day but now somehow equals a high traffic time.

Throughout, the "Pandemic" times I ordered from here several times and every time has been SLOW, had MISSING ITEMS, and once resulted in the purchase of a mochi cake from their fridge that upon opening I discovered was MOLDY AND ROTTEN.

From 5 stars to merely 2 stars. I hope for better days at Mt. Fuji and a return to the well-renowned Japanese restaurant it was not...

Enjoyed a quiet lunch at Mt Fuji today. Started with chef's choice nigiri appetizer which was nice and fresh (the tuna and salmon were especially good today), and the perfect small plate to get us hungry for more. I ordered the katsudon and my partner the miso ramen. The katsudon was good, I do like my egg a little runnier and my pork a little crispier, so I might ask if they could take it up a little early next time, but the pork cutlet was tender and the sauce has that beautiful sweet/savory thing going on that makes you want just keep eating. The miso ramen was standard fair, well executed. The pork was definitely the highlight. The broth, while flavorful, was a bit over seasoned. And speaking of over seasoned - the soy marinated egg, which I'm normally nuts for, was just too salty 😬. And I'm also sad to report the service today was less than stellar. I believe it took us longer to get our check and pay, than it did to eat. An off day perhaps. Overall, food was solid. Will be back to sample more sushi, and stoked to see origami sake on the menu.

To know Mt Fuji is to love her. Going from old, comfortable hole in the wall steeped in community memories to an entirely new building is hard to compare. My heart misses the old location, but the new spot pays respect to the many memories made in its little touches. The tiles across the sushi bar brought over from the old location, the heart of the logo acting as the center point of the building, and the menu kept many of its regulars most popular dishes. It’s a moment of pride and excitement for this city. To see small businesses supporting 2nd generation business dreams and ambitions - incredible. The food - elevated! No more frozen gyoza (no shade bc frozen ones are delicious too) BUT these are now handmade, 7 pleated dumps and they taste amazing. I’m a Kama girly - paired it with a salmon skin salad, Origami sake, and the hamachi crudo. Made for an excellent meal I would stack up against anyone else in the region. 10/10 - would recommend and can’t wait to go back.

I lived in Japan for 21 years so I feel that I can be very objective with my review. The menu is pretty extensive and had many offerings for different tastes. The food that I ordered here was mostly sashimi and sushi. I did order a few other items and salads as well. The taste and presentation were very authentic. However the portions were not consistent with what was pictured on the menu. I felt that the price was quite expensive for what actually showed up on the table. This was especially true of the appetizers ( high price, small portion). The server was also in her own world. She walked by our table on many occasions without even acknowledging us. I had to ask a different server for water on several occasions. This is really unacceptable for the price I paid for the meal. I am sorry, but I can't recommend this restaurant, and I will not be back.
