Long time patron of the location in SOMA, I wanted to try the new location. And was I just as pleased as could be! Just like the original THE ROOT CAFE, this spot offers a large selection of wonderful dishes cooks with fresh ingredients and care. The restaurant is just as friendly and inviting, patrons just as warm and happy, staff vibrant and welcoming, AND it feel a lot more open. Even the outside dining area! The menu here is the same, but the staff pointed to an area above the counter offering specials. I skipped my usual order to try THE TRADITIONAL BENNY. Along with a freshly baked jalapeño and cheese biscuit. Along with a coffee of course. The food arrived quickly and warm. Breaking the poached egg lent to a perfect cascade of yummy yolk to cover the ham and English muffin. And just the right sized dollop of hollandaise gave it that zip anyone would be a fan of. My biscuit was a nice treat to nibble on as I chatted with my friend across the table. Toasted and crunchy on the outside and warmly softened inside with a taste of cheese and subtle spice inside. These folks know how to balance ingredients and giving each flavor some stage time on the pallette. Everyone's a star at this show, no one out shines. Located in a great spot off of 430 it's definitely a place to go regularly, show off to friends that may be visiting, or recommend for a meeting place for refreshment before or after a local adventure!

I loved their first location, so I knew I would love their second. This was my first time at their Breckenridge location, and while I missed the homestyle diner decor of the first, I really liked the more "modern" look of this restaurant while also feeling as though you're not in an upscale restaurant, you're still in a home. Not to mention that they have a FULL bar now. My boyfriend got the Beer Chili Hash and a Bloody Mary while I got the Omlette with a side of breakfast potatoes and bacon. I always love the bacon at the Root since it's locally sourced, which means you're going to get THICK pieces of bacon. I also love that they pair their reallll cheesy omlette with an arugula salad. Not only do I love arugula, but it also helps balance out the cheesiness of the omlette with every other bite. I will say though, I was really jealous of my boyfriend's Beer Chili Hash. It was such a savory breakfast, and the chili itself was wonderful. Glad they're keeping up the same standards here in Breckenridge as they were in SOMA!

I am from Memphis, on a day trip and I met some Arkansas friends (including your friend, Fred Gray) at the Breckenridge location Sunday for brunch at 1 PM. I have been in the restaurant for fifty years, so now I will speak restaurant… You were packed, you were getting your asses whipped. The vibe was calm, even with the chaos. We were given a heads up that the food was going to take an extra few minutes, which was much appreciated, preemptive and very professional. When the food hit the table, it was delicious, it was hot and chocked full of flavor. The staff was smiling, cheerful, cordial and helpful. Everyone of them just kept their heads down and got the job done, you’ve created a great culture, I would go to battle with that group anytime. But wait, it was your fourth day operation at the new location? WTH? You got punched in the face, you battled to the end and emerged victorious. The restaurant business is hot food hot, cold food cold, keep the restaurant clean and be nice. The Root and its people...
