I'll be honest when I say I was quite skeptical about this new spot when I saw a Speedy Gonzalez in the lunch specials. As I've stated before that's usually a telltale sign that a Mexican restaurant is gonna be average. So I tried something a bit different from what I usually order and got the quesabirria tacos and 1 standard beef taco on the side. The beef taco was very ordinary and nothing special. The birria tacos were actually quite tasty though. They're served with onion and cilantro and a hearty beef broth for dipping. The broth definitely adds a unique flavor to the tacos. The quesabirria tacos were supposed to come with rice but I initially didn't get any. I asked an employee about the missing rice and she said they don't come with rice. Thankfully I already had the menu pulled up on my phone and I showed her and another server who joined in the conversation. He noticed the error, apologized and quickly brought out the rice. I will say the rice was a bit better than your average Mexican restaurant rice. The service, other than the rice mishap, and atmosphere were both good. They have a few tv's but the place is a bit small and can fill up quickly. The chips and salsa were ok but the salsa was a bit spicy for my taste. But I'll admit I'm a wimp when it comes to spice so it's probably fine for most folks. I'll just offer a suggestion that they make sure all the employees are familiar with the menu and know what...
Read moreWell I just gotta say food was really good, but I was very disappointed from the guy that served me, he was saying stuff about my body in front of me, little did he know I knew Spanish, I asked another server who was him and he said he was the “manager” but he was serving tables, first of all if he’s a manager he should show some respect to women and not be talking dirty stuff in front of them even if it’s in another language, also they were slammed busy and were not getting any help from the supposed “manager” cause he was so busy serving tables, I wanted to complain about what he said to a manager but since he was the “manager” I figured he wouldn’t really care about what I thought, I might go back and try this place again because I really liked their food but I’m hoping not to see...
Read moreThe service is great. The food quality doesn’t match the price. They don’t make their own chips, the salsa is also not made in house, and I was served a cheese sauce that was clumpy and not properly heated up.
A Mexican place has to NAIL chips, salsa, and queso. This place misses the mark, but could improve if more attention is paid to these details. There’s competition within walking distance that blows these 3 areas out of the water. Hard to convince the family to go for 2nd best on the block.
I will keep returning and will update my review. Again— the staff is very nice and the place...
